Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30

Need your makeup to stay put all day? You may have skipped sunblock and relied on your foundation's SPF 8 (or whatever). If there weren't a chance my derm was reading, I'd admit it too. So makeup wearers hooray for Neutrogena's dry finish (from absorbing ingredient silica) -- it leaves only the tiniest traces on skin. You also get Superman-strength SPF with more longevity; Helioplex is a combo of UVA protectors that degrade slower than others. A winner.

    Not for me

April 29, 2008, 4:35 pm I'd heard great reviews about this sunblock, but I just won't be using this again. It felt fine going on to my skin, but i developed some sort of reaction to the lotion. My face turned quite red and splotchy, with uneven texture after wearing it. It happened 2x - the first time was in Hawaii but since i'd never reacted to a product before, it didn't dawn on me that it was the lotion. When i returned from Hawaii, I stopped applying this sunscreen since I didn't need quite so much protection (SPF 15 was fine), and my skin cleared up. I though it had been the sun, so didn't think twice about it. However i still had most of the bottle left and had read a couple articles about upping the SPF, so i thought it wouldn't hurt to try it again. When I broke out again, I had to really sit back and realize that the only thing that had changed was my lotion. So despite it's great feel initially, I'm going to have to pass on this. As a fair-skinned 25 year old, I have tried in the past to be good about wearing sunblock on my face everyday (I have wrinkles already as well) and I know that the major cause of aging is sun-damage! I have tried a few times, but it never lasted long. They were always greasy and extremely strong smelling. I read everyone elses reviews on this sunscreen and decided to try it. It's amazing. It soaks in nicely, has a lot softer of a smell, and even feels like it is adding to the effects of my moisturizer. I have used it everyday so far for a week, and don't plan on stopping. We all need to prevent wrinkles first (and skin cancer) before they happen! I bought the SPF 55. Believe me, it will help! February 6, 2008, 5:05 pm

    Don't Go Outside Without It

This is a wonderful product. It provides complete coverage without a greasy or shiny result. It lasts a long time, so reapplication is not required too often. If applied too thickly it can make you appear very pale, and I have on occasion had it rub off onto the collars of black shirts; but those are minor inconveniences... April 12, 2008, 11:51 am Sooo I've found a best friend in this product, It's great for all skin types ( no really i mean it, i'm crazy acne prone and I love it), does exactly waht it says and I've been reading everywhere how effective it is.. apparently one of the best broad spectrum UVA protection products ever... and it's not even gonna cost you an arm and a leg. I use SPF 45, but my main concern being of an OPRAH complexion is that sunscreen/sunblock products are difficult to wear on dark skins as they show they're blue tint ( due to the zinc) and it's hard to wear with makeup and not asthetically appealing, but this my sisters is AMAZING, 45 spf and not a hint of blue, with a smidgen of powder on top and coudl see no gray overcast. Honestly it's a saviour and i'll reccommend it to anyone. April 12, 2008, 11:51 am

    Love this stuff

It doesn't smell like sunscreen, it doesn't have a gooey sheen to it, it stays put, and it works! I use it most days (I'm UV paranoid), and I absolutely love it. The antioxidant vitamins are a nice touch, too. If I've exfoliated, the sunblock stings a tiny bit, but that's just the price my sensitive skin will have to pay... The antioxidant vitamins are a nice touch, too. If I've exfoliated, the sunblock stings a tiny bit, but that's just the price my sensitive skin will have to pay - it doesn't leave a visible irritation, so it's ok. Update: I found a version of Ultra Sheer that is SPF 85! Woohoo! March 27, 2008, 11:15 pm

I hated sunblock and would refuse to wear it because my skin is hyper sensitive and I would get break outs on my back and neck. After trying this and found it didn't irritate my skin nor make it an oil slick, I liked it. It was effective, I didn't burn as fast as I usually would and I knew I was protected from sun rays. It also isn't sticky nor greasy, it's very much similar to the texture of body lotion so application should be very easy and quick. November 29, 2007, 10:56 pm

I was skeptical when this product first came out but now I am a believer. Nueutrogena ultra sheer dry touch goes on light and gets absorded quickly into my skin so I don't look anymore oily than I have to; it provides excellent coverage and potection from the suns unhealthy and age inducing rays and best of all there are a wide variety of SPF levels - as high as 70 if you need it! However, this sunscreen is fragranced, so if you have any sensitivity, you will want to avoid this. To get the same finish and protection from Neutrogena without the fragrance, try the Age Shield Sunblock SPF 30. It's an excellent product without the perfumey smell. November 12, 2007, 4:23 pm

I particularly like its "dryness" because I have combination skin.I have another SPF moisturizer from Nivea, which in comparison feels a lot more greasy and adds shine to my already oily T-zone. But the Neutrogena sunblock goes on my face and practically disappears, and leaves the skin feeling very smooth. I also like the (minimal) scent and packaging of the product. It's definitely something you need to have for the summer. October 25, 2007, 6:39 pm
