I'm sure this can't be good for my hair, but I initially bought it to cleanse my scalp when I couldn't wash my hair extensions frequently. The salicylic-acid formula cut through oil and dirt and reduced the amount of (ew) blemishes around my hairline. For my face, I normally consider astringent an unnecessary step, but I use this occasionally. The cooling effect and strong, flowery-peppermint scent are super-refreshing. Dry, sensitive skin types may find the ingredients too harsh.

    Gah!!! That Burns!

One word. Caustic. This formula is an astringent meaning that it contains more alcohol than a toner does and my sensitive skin turned bright red after using this. Two days later, my skin began to flake and peel immensely that I couldn't conceal any patches of dried skin. It was a terrible feeling and sight that my skin ...was shedding and it overdried my oily skin which means this is too harsh. If you have any acne or broken skin, this will painfully aggravate your skin as it is not gentle at all. I also found the scent of the formula very much similar to an old stocked medicine cabinet. Don't damage your skin by saturating and drying it with alcohol, stick to something that contains less of alcohol and more gentle ingredients. I'd steer clear of important events if I were anyone trying this out the first time as it makes skin look uncontrolled. Don't put it near my skin! May 18, 2008, 12:09 am

    works

    by jenny482 (3 reviews)
I've used this product for a long time. I find that if I'm breaking out, a swipe of this with a cotton swab will clear up any break outs in a matter of 2 days (roughly). However, my skin dries out easily, so I have to make sure to use a non-oily moisturizer when I use this. Otherwise I will have super dry, itchy skin. Also,... make sure to wash your hands after using. It will dry out the skin on your fingers if you get any product on them. The dryness can be an unfortunate side effect. But I keep using it becuase it works! December 23, 2007, 10:56 am

This stuff really dried out my skin and burned badly, I used it for about 4 days exactly like the instuctions said, it was horrible like putting alcohol all over my face, needless to say I stopped using it. I have combination skin and I do use glycolic acids and retinols without any problem, but this stuff was harsh and it ...took a few days for my skin to recover from it and go back to it's normal state. Very good

The point of Salacylic acid is to reduce the amount of oil on the skin by breaking it down. While the level of SA in this product is too mild to cause a major change in skin, like a peel would, regular use should reduce the amount of oil and, thus, the amount of breakouts. This is a good daily or, for more sensitive skin, e...very other day use to maintain clear skin. For the price, it is definitely worth a try if you have oily skin and/or breakouts. this didn't do anything for my acne; i think it made it worse. it says it's gentle, but i don't have sensitive skin, and it still caused redness. April 7, 2008, 4:53 pm

Be careful when you have sensitive skin

I have sensitive skin and this product burned and stung when first used. For the same reason, I only apply it on problem areas as opposed to putting all over the face. I found that areas around the corner of mouth and eyes are a no-no as it will overly dry these areas. With that said, the product DOES work in reducing o...il in problem areas (mine is on the t-zone area). I have also successfully used it as a spot treatment for occasional monthly break-outs. It helps pimples heal and dry up quicker. Yes, the product doesn't smell too good but it isn't bad either. I use this product 2-3x a wk. Any more than that and I get overly dry skin. Overall an ok product. May 11, 2009, 7:19 pm

This is best for those with moderate-to-severe acne or those with very oily skin. It was too strong for my occasional acne. This felt like it was killing the skin on my face. July 22, 2008, 5:27 am
