Tarte Rise and Shine Plumping Lip Stain
Editor's Rating & Review
So when Tarte rolled out a lip sister to their popular cheek stain, I hoped for natural color with long wear. Unfortunately the dual-ended tube disappoints. On one end, a too-watery lip stain applies too sheer to be seen (think cherry Chap Stick). On the other end is a thick, white, somewhat iridescent gloss. The gloss does have a plumping tingle and long wear, but the color is a gluey downer. When worn alone, the lip stain had short wear.

good pigmentation. The gloss is very nice, stain i a little too thin. Overall, okay product — 2 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

So so lip tint
I usually love the tarte products, but this one had me baffled with disapproval. I like a stain that remains for a while, but this one doesn't stand up to a few other stains I've tried. — 4 years, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Love this.
I think this is a great stain/gloss. The stain is a gel formula that offers great pigmentation. It does not go on streaky and last quite awhile. It does need to be reapplied after eating usually. I have the peach one which can come off a little Popsicle like on it's own. However with the gloss over it it is gorgeous. The red one is a suitable red - along the lines of benetint. It's a good red for people afraid of red (like me.) I have fair skin and it's just a nice flush color and the gloss gives it a nice shine. I also have the nude color and it is a browner toned nude. It looks great on my fair skin unlike most brown nudes that just look horrible on me. The gloss is a nice clearer nude gloss that tones down the brown just enough. The gloss is a minty vanilla type gloss that smells great and doesn't taste bad either. It's sticky enough to last a few hours, but not the gross weighty kind of sticky (the kind that's a bit suffocating on your lips). It does tingle a bit at first as it is cooling and when you wear both together your lips do appear fuller. It's a very smooth comfortable gloss. The gel type stain side has a doe foot applicator that works well, but I still tend to smooth out the edges with my fingers if need be. I find that applying it to my bottom lip and pressing my lips together, then adding a bit to the outer part of my upper lip works best for application. The gloss side has a brush applicator that also works very well. The brush is decent and stays straight (no splayed brush hairs that I have found) and applies smoothly. Overall I think these are one of the best stains tarte makes and I will be sad if they disappear. — 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful
