    Not so great

It's not all it's cut out to be. I don't have acne but it's not helping with pimple prevention or doing very well on blackheads. Makes your face really soft that's about it.

    Worst product I've used

This is NOT a product for people with sensitive skin-- I used it and it made my face swell up and turn red and feel tender, itchy, and hurt. I'd rather deal with the acne.

    To each their own

Some people swear by Proactiv and others say that Clean&Clear acne solution is better. Personally Proactiv by far was better for me. It actually felt like it was cleaning my skin. I've never felt my face so smooth. I've been using it now for almost a year. Before using Proactiv I used Clean&Clear and it did nothing. But what a lot of people tend to forget is that not everyone's face is the...read more same. Proactiv worked for me, it gave me smooth, clear and calm skin. Others might find that Clean&Clear did the same for them or Acne University did better. In the end it's not about which one is better, it's about which one is better FOR YOU!!! Everyone that I know, including myself, feel Proactiv is worth every penny.

I would not suggest this to anybody

I used proactiv for about 4 months. I loved it at first. It made my skin so clear and smooth. But then it stopped working and my skin got horrible. Proactiv is expensive and there are other drugstore products that are just as good and cost less than half of what proactiv costs....

    Not worth the hype.

I have been using Pro-Activ for about 4 years now, steadily. I will say that it does keep my skin from being a total mess. I do notice a difference when I don't use it for a couple of days... but that's not washing my skin at all. I have oily skin and I feel like it does help keep some of it under control... but I feel like my face could be a lot clearer, with fewer break outs and blackheads. I...read more recently enrolled in esthetician school so when I start, I am eager to find something that works better. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for," so I am looking to start using more higher end skin care. I feel like Pro-Activ does it's job, but could be a lot better. Definitely not the hype you see on the commericals... with the celebrity endorsements- which I feel is not needed. All in all, I think my face would be just the same if I were using a skincare regimen from the drugstore.

    It works well but...

Alright, so I've tried Proactiv when I was in high school, it worked well then, but was somewhat of a hassle to get (stupid mail system, which has a lot of hidden issues!) so I stopped using it and started using Clinique's acne system which is a fantastic system! But...Clinique is getting super expensive for me to use, not to mention my skin has changed and consequently the type of acne I get has...read more changed as well, so I decided to try it again. There are a lot of people that feel strongly either way about this system, as for me I'm satisfied, it's cleared up and controlled the new breakouts I had. The cleanser is your basic benzoyl peroxide cleanser with tiny exfoliating beads. Benzoyl peroxide has been a more effective treatment for the new acne I've gotten which is mainly on my chin area. It can be a little drying, so make sure to use a good moisturizer, but this cleanser is really effective. Do not use an additional exfoliator as it would be way to harsh. But overall I really like this cleanser in conjunction with the other parts of the system. It's a lot easier to get at a kiosk in the mall, or my personal favorite if you live near a Meijer, by the store brand Proactiv system there, just as good, soooooo much cheaper! The reason I give it a 7 is because it's hard to get and is overpriced for the product which is pretty basic.

    Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had used the three step kit 3 years ago for about 1 year after getting a severe break-out that would not go away. The kit worked at clearing my acne so I stopped using it after being acne free for a while. Something must have triggered my skin because the same severe acne came back. I started using the proactive kit again, now with the new formula. This time, there was no improvement in my a...read morecne and I now have acne marks (something I never used to get). What's more, my skin began itching like crazy from the moment I started using it. I kept at it for 2-3 months to see if it would improve, which it did not, and had to stop when I woke up one day with my face and eyes RED and my eyes were swollen to the point I could not see. I don't know if this is because of the new formula, but BEWARE before buying!!!!!

    don't believe the hype

they hire actors for the testimonials. Proactiv is nothing but a benzoyl peroxide wash and lotion. It did nothing for me. The wash doesn't even feel like it's cleaning.

    Smells awful, works wonderfully.

I first used Proactiv several years ago, but only used the 3-piece system, and had to quit when, even using it every other day, I was flaking and peeling because of the repairing lotion. It was just too drying. Fast forward to a couple years ago (I'm in my early 30's by the way) when due to some health issues my skin started breaking out again. Nothing was working and it just kept getting worse - ...read moredull complexion, scarring acne, etc. - so I thought I'd try Proactiv again. This time I went with the 4-piece system with oil-free moisturizer, and for the past 2+ years, I've had no problems. Every once in a while I take a couple-week break, but I notice a difference if I let it go too long. All the products except the green tea moisturizer have a very chemical smell, but the smell doesn't linger once they're rinsed off / absorbed. Unless I'm dealing with a breakout (doesn't happen often at all) I usually use the cleanser once a day, in the morning. A little goes a long way (in fact, I only have them ship me product every 4 months because I go through it so slowly!), and it rinses clean and leaves my skin very soft and smooth. I'd give it a 10, except for the smell.

    Quick Disappointment

I used to be a complete Proactiv follower for abotu 3 years. You do have to remove your make-up before you use this product. I stopped using this product because I was in the Mojave desert in CA for 2 months and my skin stopped delivering the promising results I usually recieved from this. I took a break, tried again and my skin still failed to respond. Thankfully I saw a dermatologist (highly rec...read moreommend to anyone whos insurance covers) and was perscribed Retin-A, now I use a regular face wash, SPF lotion, and no break outs. Wish I knew that before I wasted all that money!
