    Beware!!!!

I had used the three step kit 3 years ago for about 1 year after getting a severe break-out that would not go away. The kit worked at clearing my acne so I stopped using it after being acne free for a while. Something must have triggered my skin because the same severe acne came back. I started using the proactive kit again, now with the new formula. This time, there was no improvement in my a...read morecne and I now have acne marks (something I never used to get). What's more, my skin began itching like crazy from the moment I started using it. I kept at it for 2-3 months to see if it would improve, which it did not, and had to stop when I woke up one day with my face and eyes RED and my eyes were swollen to the point I could not see. I don't know if this is because of the new formula, but BEWARE before buying!!!!!

    Love it.

I first used Proactiv several years ago, but only used the 3-piece system, and had to quit when, even using it every other day, I was flaking and peeling because of the repairing lotion. It was just too drying. Fast forward to a couple years ago (I'm in my early 30's by the way) when due to some health issues my skin started breaking out again. Nothing was working and it just kept getting worse - ...read moredull complexion, scarring acne, etc. - so I thought I'd try Proactiv again. This time I went with the 4-piece system with oil-free moisturizer, and for the past 2+ years, I've had no problems. Every once in a while I take a couple-week break, but I notice a difference if I let it go too long. The repairing lotion, when I use it regularly, has made such a change in my skin tone! It's clear, bright, and free from acne Even the few pimples I do get each year don't last as long. I get complimented on my skin even when I'm not wearing makeup (indeed, I need much less now than I used to). And even my reaction to the repairing lotion has improved over time: last summer, I didn't even need to use moisturizer most of the time. I don't guess this product will work for everyone, but it sure has worked for me. Love it!

not a lotion, but a serum!

when used correctly, this is a wonderful little product! i keep seeing reviews of people complaining that it made them red, irritated, flakey, etc. well with such a high dose of BP, you really need to follow directions and build up an immunity to the product. the word 'lotion' is somehwhat decieving. when you think lotion you think of it as a moisturizer. especially because most 3 step systems the...read more third step is a moisturizing lotion. however that is NOT the case with proactiv. use it as a serum instead. start with a tiny bit once a day, if you find yourself drying up, lay off of it for a few days, dont even use it until your skin is no longer dry. and start again with a tiny tiny bit. it spreads well so a little goes a long way. be patient and work with the system because my clear skin results are more fantastic than i could have ever imagined. i reccomend using the green tea moisturizer with this when you first begin the system, just for that extra soothing that your skin might need.

    NOT for sensitive skin

My skin isn't that sensitive, and has only reacted to a couple of products, and this was the worst one. It literally burned my skin, I had to rinse it off immediatly. But it still left my skin red, dry and awful looking.

    Acne be gone!

I really like the Repairing Lotion--it does a great job controlling my acne. Sometimes I overuse it, which I need to be careful of. It doesn't take much product to do the job, and if you overuse it your skin can get dry and irritated. But as long as I don't overdo it, it works really well. And always be sure to moisturize after!!

    Works great while it lasts.

To get the most out of this product it must be used in congunction with the rest of the original 3-step kit. I had moderate cystic, nodular acne from the time I was in junior high till about a year and a half ago (I was pregnant and am now nursing so my hormones have changed quite a bit. Yay!). I first tried Proactiv about five years ago, and within about two weeks I noticed my skin clearing up! I...read more was so happy! And it wasn't harsh on my skin or made it dry up! Things were great for the next few years. I only had minor, sporadic breakouts to worry about. But then I noticed the pimples slowly coming back. What I figured had happened is that my skin built up a resistance to the stuff. So I stopped using it. It has been a couple years since I've used Proactiv. If I develop acne and start using it again, I'm sure it would work great, at least for a while.

    Not What was Expected!

I was very unhappy with this product. I used to be a huge fan of Britney Spears so I decided to try the product. After using this product as well as the accompanying ones I broke out even worse than the original acne I had. Unless you have severe sever acne I would not recommend using this product or it could possibly make it worse!

    ?

i am truly confused as to whether or not i like this stuff. i used the entire 3 step system a couple years ago and it cleared my skin up pretty well though not completely. it did, however, get rid of this huge dark mark from a blemish. the mark was very new but it still got rid of it. i have no idea where it was now. it is completely gone. the thing is when i was using this system it would clear m...read morey skin to a certain level then it would stop working a friend of mine ahd a similar experience. so i really liked this when it was working...but it didnt work completely for me.

    Made acne worst

I have had acne since I was about 13. It goes through phases of being pretty bad and also being under control-- I've resigned to the fact that it has to do with genetics and hormones, but topical creams are important to keeping the breakouts under control. I've tried literally everything. I've revisited Proactiv twice now, and everytime it seems to work immediately. It works for about 2 weeks, the...read moren my acne starts coming back.... with a vengeance. The zits become cystic, deep, huge, and painful. Then, when I do manage to deal with them, they leave awful scars due to how deep they were. If this happened once, I couldn't blame the Proactiv. But this has happened twice in my lifetime of acne. Once when I was 18, now again at 22. Never again will I try it. Also, it's way overpriced.

Not a miracle cure. No way.

Everyone has seen these commercials, and the product is all right, but the two biggest problems are: not sold in stores, too expensive. If you have terrible acne like some of the people in the commercial, you need something like Accutane, not this. Proactive is good for people with very mild acne, but it won't stop serious breakouts. Also, this product will make your face very sensitive to sunlight, so no tanning while you use it.
