This really smells like apple cider vinegar, which I'm not a fan of. This has an apple cider vinegar base that smells funny at first, but the smell fades quickly. I actually use this on my four year old daughters hair prior to brushing. We call it "the stinky stuff". But it detangles wonderfully, better than stuff meant for kids.
