Stops Shine - Doesn't Stop Oil

This product matts, BUT my skin still gets oily. It doesn't prevent the oil, it just stops the shine. I think it's important to note that. If you are looking for something that prevents oil and stops shine, try Vichy Pro Mat. I do like the way the product goes on the skin though. It's thicker but light and fluffy at the same time. — 3 years, 9 months ago

It is not an acne treatment! Not supposed to be...

I am an esthetician who lives in the hot and humid Southeast and this product is a very effective mattifier for me that has eliminated the small whiteheads I would get on my chin and could never get rid of. People here who are disappointed because the product did not clear up their acne do not understand the product. This is not a blemish treatment--it contains .5% salicylic acid. That is not enou...read moregh to clear up a pimple. It is enough to provide an antibacterial benefit to clear clogged pores and keep them clear. To clear up a pimple, you need a product with 2% salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Those who are unhappy probably bought this online without the advice of a professional esthetician and so were never educated on the true use of the product or told which Dermalogica product to use. Their products may be on the pricey side, but they are quality and they work. I'd rather spend more money on one product that does what it is supposed to do than waste money on 3-4 other brand's products from the drugstore that don't. Trust me, I've got the undersink cabinet to prove it. Do not blame the product...blame the lack of advice from websites that should not be selling this product, sell old stock that may no longer be effective and do not consult with their customers on the right combination of products to help with their particular skin issues. You can get skin mapped by a Dermalogica-trained licensed esthetician at any Dermalogica spa or salon for FREE--do it before using this skin care line so that you get the right products for YOUR SKIN. I can use any line in the world at wholesale prices and I use Dermologica...and to say I am picky is an understatement! — 4 years, 1 month ago

    The BEST BAR NONE

This is the BEST face product I've ever used in my life. I'm the typical "I've used everything" acne sufferer, and well...I have. I've even imported products from overseas, thinking that maybe that would be my solution. But no, it wasn't. Then I finally bought Medibac (Dermalogica), and omg this mattifier product is AMAZING!!!!!!! I freaking love it. It's expensive but I really don't car...read moree. It lasts forever anyway. And, it does make your face so soft :) ALSO, and I'm not exaggerating at all...I saw results in literally the first day I applied this. It was amazing. Especially because I couldn't feel it working at all. I just don't understand this product, but I think the secret is that it's "anhydrous"/without water as it's main ingredient. Either way, it makes me a very happy and loyal customer. I've never been so relieved to look in the mirror, and now my college years are FINALLY without terrible acne (I'm going into my last semester...and NOW I feel comfortable with my skin, wow). Oh well, it's about time, and I love this little tube. It's seriously a blessing, and Dermalogica better not change anything about it. I'm giving it a ten, but I'm really giving it a 200 because I associate my clear skin with this product. (Also, just to end on, this and the sebum masque are in my opinion the best things from the Medibac line. The other products aren't super great like these, but they're good. And, somehow, it seems that the entire line really does work together, and it's not one big scam to get us customers to buy their line. I really trust this product). — 4 years, 2 months ago

    Definitely helps clear clogged pores

I'm 50 & still have very oily skin, but a lot of the acne products aimed at "youngsters" :-) are way too harsh for my skin. This product helps keep the oil under control - keeping blocked pores on my chin to a minimum, as well as helping with the blackheads around my nose, all without drying out my skin excessively. And the shine control is awesome. I first tried it as part of a medibac kit - liked it enough to purchase the full size! — 4 years, 9 months ago

    Highly recommended!

As an esthetician, I recommend this to all of my clients that complain about blackheads on their nose. It acts as a barrier between your skin and makeup/environment and helps clear up existing congestion. I love this! I could see a difference in 3 days! — 5 years, 1 month ago

    Clearing results not seen, but...

as a mattifier this is a great product. This product is similar to a MD Skincare product that I can't think the name of (it didn't clear that well for me either). As for the clearing part, not so much. I've used this on a couple of pimples and hadn't noticed much of a difference than when I use any other product containing salicylic acid. While I haven't experienced any clearing benefits, I find ...read morethat it does work well as a foundation primer, as it contains silicones that keep you from being shiny. Because of the price, I can't bear to throw it away, so I'll just continue to use it as a primer. In that respect, it performs really well. — 5 years, 5 months ago
