Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Reviews

Very disappointing
LipglossandSpandex (487 reviews)It didn't seem to help keep my oily skin matte, and it even seemed to cause my face to break out all over! I am very disappointed because there are so many great reviews, but I think the silicone-based primers just won't work for my skin-type. I do NOT have sensitive skin at all and was really surprised to see the dozens and dozens of little zits everywhere. I would recommend TRYING this product out if you are acne prone, even if you're not sensitive. — 3 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 4 people said helpful

Photo finish foundation
CaroleVonAllten (1154 reviews)Good primer. Makes makeup glide on. They finally changed the packaging so it's better. — 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Love this primer!
ladyboarder9669 (186 reviews)I've never used primers much because I didn't think they did much good but I was really impressed with this product when I first tired it. It went on so smoothly, it seemed to cover blemishes and even out my skin tone and hide the natural red in my face. When I applied foundation it went on much more smoothly, I used less of it and my face seemed to have much better coverage than normal. I would absolutely continue to buy this product and I highly recommend it! — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

I wish I could use it.....
aly7 (385 reviews)This primer creates a soft, silky texture. It does contain Silocone though. Which I am (apparently) allergic to. After I used the primer, tiny bumps came up ALL OVER my face. Forehead, cheeks, chin, you name it. I looked up effects of silicone and it said if you are allergic to it, it will give you small bumps on your face that itch and go away as soon as you stop using the product. This primer might be good, but for anyne tht has not tried it, DONT! If you are allergic to it, you will be so dissapointed you bought it because it is VERY EXPENSIVE! — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

original primer
beautybody (127 reviews)This was the first primer I had ever heard about and/or used. This formula goes on smoothly and feels like silk on the skin. My foundation does go on smoothly after using this. It would be nice to have an spf in it. I believe some of their later formulations do which is an added bonus. It feels good on my combination skin. — 2 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Good & Bad
luckybetty (880 reviews)I have been using Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer and bareMinerals Prime Time, but I wanted to try this for myself to see if the buzz surrounding this primer is worth it. I purchased their "To Go" size. The first thing I noticed was this is colorless, while Laura Mercier is white. The texture is thicker. When I squeeze, a blob comes out. What I like about this primer is that it doe make a smooth and velvety surface. My mineral powder foundation goes on better. Okay, I also must admit, this Smashbox primer gives more matte finish. Unfortunately, it seems to clog my pores, and that's no-no for me since I have acne prone skin. Also, I cannot say that my foundation stays longer. Overall, I like the texture and the results of Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer and bareMinerals Prime Time better. — 1 year, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful

Not Worth It!
pynkNymphette (189 reviews)If you like this product you should try out Monistat Chaffing gel. It is made from the exact same ingredients. My friend has this primer and I tried it and loved it but it is so over priced! At Walmart you can get the chaffing gel for $7 and you get like double the amount of product! Read the ingredients for yourself and save some money! Neither of these products have ever clogged my pores and they both make my make up look smooth & flawless. Once you use primers you will never go back — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

Silky Silky Silky
Pamela937 (520 reviews)This product is amazing. It goes on silky and so does your makeup after this base product. No shine and a healthy glow. Smashbox is really onto something with this primer! — 3 years, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Expensive but okay
Thorne (335 reviews)This product is way to expensive for a basic silicone product. For the same effect, you can get a much better product that also moisturizes with antioxidants for about the same price. This primer smooths pores and lines temporarily and does not contain fragrance which is great. I bought the small tube at Sephora to try this product and love the tube. It is great for traveling and putting in your purse to use for flyaway hair (but is is still way too expensive compaired to similar silicone based hair serums). — 3 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Great Makeup Base
Stef42678 (479 reviews)I love this formula from Smashbox because it goes on easy and lasts a long time. It makes a great base coat for your makeup and is perfect for any skin type. The formula is light so it doesn't add oil or shine and is a great base coat. It is so easy to apply for a natural coverage all day long. I love how it feels and lasts all day for the perfect base to your makeup routine. — 3 years, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
