LOVED THIS!!!
My natural hair color is dark brown BUT I love when it's dyed jet black! What I don't love is making those expensive trips to my stylist just for color. I have always been hesitant to color my own hair, especially after a terrible hair color experience I had in High School...my hair was dark brown, patchy blonde AND even had some bright Ronald McDonald red in it too! After that experience and my dear Mom spending tons to have my hair color-corrected, I've always left it to the Pros. However, one of my resolutions this year is to cut back on unnecessary spending AND I figured that since I'm not lifting (lightening) my actual hair color why not do it myself?! At first, I was looking at using professional hair dyes but trying to figure out what volume of developer I should use was a headache, I needed something simple and easy. One of my friends recommended I try her go-to hair color product, her hair is a fabulous honey blonde...and I'm so glad I did! I used the color "silken black" and it gave my hair the most luxurious black color ever. My stylist literally used a professional blue-black dye to achieve this color for my hair and to think I got this silky, shiny look from a box color I picked-up in Target for $5.99 is mind-blowing! Also, my hair is coarse, thick and very dry but this product actually left it silkier than it was before...maybe it's because after I rinsed out the dye I "co-washed" my hair (used conditioner only and no shampoo), sat under my dryer with the conditioner still in my hair and to reseal my hair's shaft I did a final rinse with ice cold water BUT my strands feel like pure silk. My hair doesn't even feel this good after moisturizing steam treatments at the salon. The steps to color my hair were simple and sure I did a lot of steps afterwards but if you're gonna dye your hair...do it right! I will always use this to color my hair and since it's a permanent dye...I will only need to touch up my roots. This is much better than spending quadruple the cost of this product in the salon! — 3 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 16 people said helpful

Textures & Tones
I used this product and was not happy with the lack of grey coverage, even though I'm not over 30% gray. I ended up with three different shades from platinum, to red, and lastly brown. When I called Clairol they recommended a color correction method, with another of their product; Nice and Easy, which contains ammonia. This was not listed in the ingredient portion inside the box, where the instructions are found, they listed this ingredient on the bottom of the box, as ammonium hydroxide. Unless you're a chemist, or a cosmetologist you would'nt know the difference. The Clairol specialist knew I had relaxer in my hair and relaxer and ammonia together is a recipe for baldness. If I had not searched the box the second time, I'd be bald now. This is not due deligence in marketing. On one product you put no ammonia on the front of the box, as in Textures & Tones. On on th Nice'n Easy box it's not on the inside instruction sheet, it's not on the front of the box, then it's common name is not listed on the outside of the box, and yet you use this as the fix for accidents which occur with the first product. I wish I could take my hat off to you, Clairol with you Textures & Tones, but I'm ashame of my tiro colored hair color. Ladies of color, beware if you're not going darker than your natural hair color beware. You may not even come close to what you're looking for. I'll be kicking myself for the next few months until it grows out, or I'll have to do what I should have done in the first place, gone to a professional. For $60.00 I could have had it done professionally, now I have to pay for a professional to strip the color, who knows how much that will cost, and another $60.00 to have it colored correctly. Clairol, I'll not have anything good to say about your products from this day forward. Fabulous
I Love this product. The color is fantastic and my hair feels healthier than before I applied the color. It works best when the hair is completely dry and free of styling products. I usually wash my hair the night before, let it air dry and apply the product the following day. I would recommend this product. Haven't used any other brand since I began using textures and tones. — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 10 of 15 people said helpful
