    I can't live without it!

February 15, 2008, 12:54 pm I mainly contribute the dramatic improvement in my acne lately to this wonderful little product. To my knowledge, this is the only OTC 2.5% benzoyl peroxide treatment out there. I don't know why other brands haven't caught on... 10% may be "maximum strength," but it has a nasty tendency to dry out your skin (it did to me). But not this stuff!!! It works wonderfully, only drying your skin a little bit, just so the acne dries up. I recommend a facial scrub (see below for the one I use) to remove the dried up dead skin. I don't think I ever would have started using this if it weren't for me randomly finding this acne treatment called "the Regimen" online. (You can find out about it yourself here: http://www.acne.org/regimen.html) I experimented with it myself, but only using the benzoyl peroxide at night, since I was worried about it bleaching my clothes. After trying that for a while, and not being completely satisfied, I finally gave in and did it twice a day. What a difference! Here's my tried and tested version of "the Regimen": twice a day: *cleanse with Neutrogena's Acne Stress Control scrub, *make sure face is completely dry, *then apply a thin layer of Neutrogena's On-the-Spot 2.5% benzoyl peroxide treatment over ALL problem areas of your face (for example, on your nose, chin, and cheeks; not just on your current breakouts - using it everywhere treats current acne and prevents it from emerging), *and finish with an oil-free moisturizing lotion with SPF; my current favorite is Dove's Deep Moisture facial lotion with SPF 15. Good Luck!!! oh, by the way, I noticed that someone said in their review that they were unable to apply this product smoothly. I had that problem, too, for a while, but I seem to have figured out how to solve it. Only put a small amount of the cream on your finger at a time, and be sure to rub it in until it is completely absorbed and your skin feels dry, not tacky. It's worked for me! I only get a few flakes of it here and there, but they're easy to brush off before you put lotion or makeup on. February 15, 2008, 12:54 pm

December 27, 2007, 8:28 am This product contains benzoyl peroxide which is designed to basically deliver oxygen to the anaerobic bacteria that can contribute to acne. A lot of people try to zap their pimples with the strongest products they can find, like 10% benzoyl peroxide products. I used to do the same as a teenager, and typically this would just wind up drying out my face terribly, irriating it, and ultimately just made my face look worse. After doing some research, I've read in many places that a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide formula is just as effective as a 10% one and is less likely to dry you out, irritate your skin, etc. Neutrogena is one of the few companies, the last I looked, that still makes a 2.5% formula--most other lines seem to only make the 10%. I use this product as a spot treatment (which is what it is intended to be) on my pimples, and it helps clear them up in a few days. Try it--it's cheap, so what do you have to lose? A very good drugstore acne treatment

It works by killing the bacteria that cause acne. There are stronger benzoyl peroxide products available, but most people don't need any stronger than this, and the stronger bp is more drying. I've used bp (including this product) on my acne for several years, but lately my skin has become more sensitive to it. I've also learned that it's an oxidizing agent on skin and so can, in theory, contribute to aging of the skin. Therefore, I'm on a quest to find an alternative product to keep my acne under control. Meantime, using it about three times a week seems to be working without causing too much extra irritation. December 6, 2007, 1:37 pm

I've found that this product works and it doesn't have to be harsh. can't live without it!

This neat little product shrinks my pimples overnight. I've tried everything from proactive to almost all drugstore brands. This stuff really works. Just gradually work your way into it. Start with a cleanser, then this guy and be sure to use an oil free moistoirizer with it. Your acne should be cleared up in a few weeks! October 6, 2008, 12:02 pm

    Wow!

    by icyhottskii (3 reviews)
This product is great, and most importantly doesn't dry out skin like many other on the spot formulas. Just dab a bit on acne or an upcoming bump, and your problems are solved. It provides healthy medicine to the zit and helps clear your skin. Thank you Neutrogena for helping my skin stay acne free!!!! February 6, 2008, 11:59 am

    Ok

I like this stuff because it contains benzoyl peroxide but it is kind of hard to rub in and when I wear makeup if I don't rub it in all the way it doesn't make my foundation look smooth. That's my only problem with it. Other than that it clears spots pretty quickly. December 10, 2007, 7:38 am

    Love this!

I use On the Spot along with Neutrogena's Rapid Clear cleanser and Clear Pore astringent. This combo is the only thing that keeps me clear and I have tried everything! I am 32, with extremely oily skin and very bad breakouts if I don't use this product. I highly recommend! November 30, 2007, 1:52 pm
