Maybelline New York Define-A-Line Eye Liner Reviews

only OK
the pros of this product is that the colours are true, prigmented and the liner is very soft so it's easy to apply. However the cons would have to be that is it TOO smudgable, as in, if you try and smudge it it comes off or just vanishes. I have this in navy and while it's ok I will not buy again, I like something with a better formula. — 4 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

dark, smooth
if you want to do a smokey eye, i bet this would be great bc it goes on really dark and smooth and easy, without a hint of tugging. and it has its own smudger and sharpener on the tube. the black i got is very dark, but the way i use liner, for a dramatic cat eye with a wing, it smudges too much. my 'wings' also disapeared towards the 6 hour mark. and i only line the top lid but by the end of the day i had it on top, bottom, inner and out rim. it migrates alot! and it does sting my eyes a bit too. — 4 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Soft!
This eyeliner is very soft and goes on smoothly onto your lids. Great for blending too. The colors are highly pigmented, and the non-black shades are not too bright, so all shades are very wearable. The only thing is that it's not long lasting, so it can smear by the end of the day, especially if you have oily lids. — 3 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

Ehh
I have a hard time applying eyeliner, and i bought this thinking it would make my life easier. The first time i applied it, it broke off. The sponge at the end didnt work, its easy to come off and rubs roughly. — 9 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 2 people said helpful

Too soft.
I was excited to try this product because it was the first retractable eyeliner I ever purchased. The first day of application, I was impressed by the smoothness, softness, and rich color. I layered it on and headed to school. Imagine my surprise when, three hours after application, I checked my face in a mirror and was staring into the eyes of a raccoon. This eyeliner moves like no eyeliner I have ever come across to this day. I have found that whether tight-lining the top or lining the bottom lashes, simply swiping this product on is not a good idea. However, as I hate to waste products, I have experimented with several different techniques and have found a two successful ways to apply this to the bottom lash line. The first is to apply an incredibly small amount, and then to blend it thoroughly with the sponge pencil blender on the other side of the tool. Then make sure you have set your under-eye area with plenty of setting powder to soak up oils that would encourage the typical melting of this product. Although effective, this method is relatively soft and everyday. For a more stirkingly bold look, I have discovered that swiping on the liner, and then going over it with a matte black shadow to set it, does the trick perfectly. I have yet to experience smudging of any sort from this method, and the line stays dark and bold all day. For a fellow drugstore product, I use the matte black from one of my Wet n’ Wild palettes. Overall, while this product is dangerous on its own, it can be made useful if you are willing to work with it. I do recommend it, because my discoveries have made it useful for multiple looks. However, all that being said, I am still on the fence about repurchasing. — 2 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Terrible liner
This is one of the worst eyeliners I have ever used. The color of it is very rich and black, but that is the only good thing about it. I used it to tightline my upper lash line, and for the rest of the day it is literally smudging off onto my undereye area. I have rarely used any products in my life that give 'raccoon eyes.'I even tried putting UDPP (eye shadow primer) under my eyes and a lot of eyeshadow to try and keep it in place, but NOTHING helps. Really disappointing because I tend to like Maybelline products a lot. This eyeliner is terrible, terrible, terrible. I'm going to just end up throwing it out. — 8 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Define-A-Line
I don't like using this product on my waterline, my eyes are not watery but this eyeliner seems to wear off not long after it has been applied.. On the inner and outer upper last line it looks great, It smudges a lot.. I do not perfer this I'd rather use a pencil liner than this retractable liner, its very smooth and soft.. but it smudges easily and wears off quickly. I'd rather use Rimmel Special Eyes Pencil or Rimmel Special Eyes Pencil. — 11 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

some smudging
I love soft retractable pencil liners, and often use maybelline products, but i notice with this liner, theres often smidges of liner under my eye after a few hours of wearing. When im out, i feel liek i constantly have to wipe under my eyes to ensure i have no awkward black lines below my lashes. Not my favorite, but easy to apply and looks good when it stays where it should! — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
