my moms' all star
my moms been using this FOREVER, and she looooves it. every once in a while id be at her house and hop in the shower and this'd be 'the' shampoo, and id use it, and ok no complaints, clean and felt ok. then when i was preggers the first time, i craved this shampoo...id wash my hair with it and while i was still in the shower and a little sudsie, id suck it out of my hair....i dont kno why....but for 3$ its great, and my mom could buy anything in the world and wants this.This review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 7 people said helpful

Fantastically Fresh, Clean Hair For A Buck!
I love this stuff and will buy the S&C every now and then. It's only one dollar! It lathers richly and gets my long, normal hair squeeeeaky clean. I doubt I could run a comb through it if I didn't use the conditioner right along with it, though. A solid, practical choice for those with "normal" hair that has no issues. And if you're a fragrance girl like me, you'll love the scent. It's warm, clean...read more and inviting. I love to use this and twist my damp hair up for the day. When I take it down in the evening, there's a whoosh of fragrance that my boyfriend just loves. This is a classic for a reason. Soft, Shiny, Bouncy, Great-Smelling Hair & Memories in a Bottle!
I may perhaps be in the minority here but I HATE the artificial "fruit" smells that most shampoos/body-washes, etc. tend to have lately. This is one of the few that I know of that doesn't smell like fake cherries, raspberries, strawberries or fake, generic,"tropical" fruit. Much of the AV05 range & almost every kind of shampoo does this and just about every kind of shampoo makes me feel like chain...read more-smoking an entire pack of cigarettes to rid my hair of the chemical fruit-stench! I bought two bottles each of the Extra Volume shampoo and conditioner earlier this week and was somewhat nervous at the words "improved scent" on the label. Fortunately, the scent didn't seem to have changed substantially- it was perhaps a bit lighter and sweeter than before. Definitely stirred-up memories of my teenaged sisters using this when I was little. My hair is fine but not terribly limp and prone to tangling. The shampoo cleans thoroughly. Some have complained that it is overly "stripping" or drying to the hair. They may have a point but I would want to ask if they are washing their hair daily, which isn't a good practice- even with the mildest, most gentle shampoo you can find. I have to wonder if a lot of people's objections to it arise from it's being so inexpensive- here in my neck of the woods, more often than not, it's less than a dollar! Our local Fred Meyer sells it for .89! I had a coupon for a dollar off of any four bottles of shampoo or conditioner, making each bottle only .64cents! I suppose some people would be inclined not to trust something that's inexpensive. I took a star off because the few small doubts I have- the chemical surfactant, the possibility that it may strip colour, and the few fly-aways when it's humid MIGHT warrant a slightly less than perfect score.This review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Classic

Affordable, smells great, feels great
This is one of the only shampoos I use on my hair. Your hair will always smell fabulous and clean with this shampoo. It can leave your scalp dry but that is always the case if you over wash. Best Shampoo EVER!
I have tried everything and these VO5 shampoos are the absolute best. You can actually take any of the VO5 shampoo and conditioner products and these are the only ones that got me to buy their products again and again.
