Not so good

Like all Clarins products, there is a lot of added fragrance in this one. I expected that, but what I didn't expect was for it to leave a greasy film on my face after rinsing. I followed the instructions to the letter, but it just wouldn't rinse completely. I ended up having to use another cleanser afterwards as the greasy film was just unacceptable.

HG

A great serum for my rather finicky skin! Soothes and calms, provides enough moisture most days and seems to help even out my skin tone. My skin feels silky smooth after application which I love. I even use it around my eye area.

HG

I have purchased this serum for a number of years. It's very soothing, calming and my skin generally looks healthier when I use it. I tend to only use it once a day (although the packaging says AM and PM) and I also mix my Differin gel (prescription retinoid) with it to help ease irritation.

A very good product

My only real gripe with the sunscreen is the tint, which is not sheer (Clinique need to look the word up in the dictionary). It has an OK finish, a little on the dry side perhaps but the plus side of that is it wears well for longer, has a good compliment of antioxidants and provides adequate protection for day-to-day wear. It also doesn't cause me any irritation. However the tint really does make this product unsuitable for me. It makes me look dirty, even if I apply less of the product and really blend it in well. It's a shame because other than that, this would be a HG product for me.

Not so elegant when you use the correct amount

To get the SPF protection on the label, you need to apply 1/4 teaspoon of the product to your face and another 1/4 teaspoon for your neck (this is the approximate amount used when products are tested to give them an SPF rating). Unfortunately most companies don't tell us this, however a search of the internet confirms it on many sites, including government ones. On to the review.... I purchased this product hoping it would be good as a lightweight moisturiser/sunscreen for summer days when I'm not in the sun for long. However, when using the correct amount (which equates to around 7 pumps for your face and neck) it is far too greasy and not cosmetically elegant. It is great as a general moisturiser though, but not for adequate UV protection. Ladies, if you're relying upon this for UV protection and you're only using a small amount, you're not protecting yourself at all. Please don't risk your skin and if you don't believe me, search the internet and become an informed consumer!!

This is a very good moisturiser

My skin felt comfortable for hours after application. I also used it around my eye area and it didn't cause me any irritation. Even the oily skin version may be a little too heavy for those with oily skin and be careful about applying it in areas with active breakouts as I did find it made them take longer to clear up.

No different to the old formula for me

I had high hopes for the new Moisture Surge Extended but sadly, for me, it's no different to the old formula. My skin actually feels drier after application.

A good cleanser

but a little too harsh for my skin. This would be ideal for guys with slightly oily skin.

Good but not great

I originally purchased this cleanser as I was having some salicylic acid peels and wanted something very gentle to use for a few days afterwards. While it is a reasonable cleanser and didn't irritate my face, it didn't clean very well either. My face felt like there was a film left over it, and that was having rinsed the cleanser off under the shower.

Caused clogged pores and breakouts

This thick white goop left my dry skin feeling very greasy and after only 4 days of persisting with it clogged my pores and caused a breakout.
