My brand obsessions:

Kerastase, Yves St Laurant, Loreal, Estee Lauder, MAC (eye colours), Laura Mercier (tinted moisturiser), NARS

I'd bawl my eyes out if this product was discontinued:

Yves St Laurent Touche Eclat, MAC eye colours, lip gloss in general, Loreal mascara Kerastase, Frederick Fekkai & Pantene's Straightening Shampoo (for those last minute drugstore dashes)

Save your money! Here are 5 products I bought and regretted:

Aveda Blue Malva Shampoo- too drying Lip Fusion- too drying Tan Fusion- HORRIBLE fake tan disaster..did NOT blend at all. Husband still thinks it was hilarious... ha, bloody, ha!

From shower to "out the door," how long I take to get ready on an average day:

Not washing hair-30 min. With hair wash..more like 45 min-1hr.

Beauty trend I'd really, really like to learn or try:

Would really love to get a subltle, smokey eye right. At 38, it's a tricky one to attempt. I really dont want to end up looking like Cruella De Ville or Alice Cooper.

What makeup thingy is always in my purse:

Touche Eclat, Loreal 3x Mascara in Black, Nars bronzer in Laguna, Bourjous Blush in Lilas D'or 33, Mac eyecolours Shroom,Nylon, and a light brown one (for filling eyebrows as well), Clinique chestnut brown eyeliner (soft and slightly shimmery) and a pinky lip gloss.

Ah, memories... My biggest junior high beauty mistake:

black nail polish, TANNING (dont do it! do you really want to look like a crocodile handbag by age 30? and yes, you STILL WILL care what you look like then..),the preppy look, complete with docksiders! CACK! Much cooler in high school. New wave, Adam Ant, Duran Duran influences-a highlighted mullet never looked so cool-or so I thought!

Most cringe-worthy beauty treatment I've ever endured:

It's a toss up between a Guinot anti-bacterial facial and endermologie. In the first, the facialist massaged a gel into my face with two smooth stainless steel gadgets which had a small electrical current running between them. While not uncomfortable, there was an occassional small crackling sound and with with my eyes closed, I could see the occassional white lightening bolt...behind my closed eyelids...must be a neurological issue there, me thinks! As for the endermologie, it felt like the skin was being ripped off my butt. Dont do it ! No change and I bet the FDA comes to its senses and yanks its approval of the treatment. What was I thinking? Common sense says constant stretching of the skin is going to lead to one baggy arse, eventually...

The most $$ I've ever shelled out for a beauty product:

$60 for Aveda hair conditioner...ok, not great. $200 for T3 blowdryer, $200 for T3 straightener...not used much, but very good straightener. Cant even list everything........

About Me:

I'm a 38 year old cosmetics junkie who's losing her faith! After many thousands of $'s spent on every new 'wonder product" over the years, I have to admit that not many actually do WHAT THEY CLAIM TO DO. After a friend in the skin care business clarified the fact that any product that actually changes the cellular make up of the skin cant be labelled a cosmetic, but a pharmaceutical and therefore obtainable from a doctor with a prescription ONLY, what's the point of buying anything carried at Sephora or Norstrom's? Apart from the retinols and acids, what's shaken the earth in skin care lately? Strivectin? Ibedone? Coffeeberry? Although I've got relatively good skin for my age, the inevitable little bits of sun damage are starting to show and I'm not liking it one bit! So, if any of you girls find an anti aging skin care product that actually does what it says on the box, I'd love to hear about it! I see through the marketing, airbrushed ads with 17yr old models and only want to spend money on a product with the science behind it these days. I'd also like any feedback on lines that dont use animal testing, if anyone knows a good one.
