Places to be pampered in the desert

The Spa at Camelback Inn

The Spa at Camelback Inn

Whether you’re vacationing in Scottsdale, spend your winters in this warmer, dryer land, or are native to the Phoenix area, some coveted “me” time is a must. And what better a place to spend your much-needed downtime than at a spa? Better yet: a spa with scenery so picturesque and serene, so fruitful and green, so very, well, Scottsdale. Why we didn’t have a hard time finding some great, swear-by salons to step into. The best part about the zen zones we deem downright sensational? Each boasts a menu that’s head-to-toe encompassing, meaning one-stop shops. Snip your strands, groom your arches, polish your complexion and release some tension (kudos to a Swedish or deep-tissue massage). Literally, these bad boys are every girl’s dream come true, when it comes to body care. Zona zealous ladies, get ready for some TLC in Scottsdale (and surrounding):

You’ve likely heard about JW Marriott’s Camelback Inn. But have you heard, specifically, about the amazing spa services? With more than 32 treatment rooms and a menu of services – all which utilize nature-based ingredients and techniques influenced by Native American cultures – to boot, this award-winning spa blends the indulgences of a destination spa with the comfort and quiet of the Sonoran Desert. Our favorite part: the outdoor pool with a view of the Camelback and Mummy mountains.

With three, centrally-located spas in the Scottsdale area, Dolce Salon & Spa is an Arizona staple, servicing more than 24,000 people each year (rather, that’s how many friends the Spa has on Facebook). From tanning to brows, nails to hair care, massage to makeup, Dolce gets the job done. Bonus: there is a “Barber” shop within the spa, so your better half can relish in the R&R as you do. Tried-and-true package to entice: The Spa Breather, which includes a facial, massage, pedicure and light lunch for $240. We call it four hours of heaven.

Enchanting is putting it mildly: the Enchantment Resort – rather, the Mii Amo Spa at the Enchantment – is ridiculous. Honing in on the strong, powerful practices of Ayurveda, the spa offers profound treatments and specialized consultations to help you practice this Indian-established lifestyle. With amazing packages to follow suit, spa-goers can rejoice in a full-day of pampering or just an hour, followed by traditional meditation or yoga. Truly a mind-meets-body spa experience, we recommend Mii Amo for those in need of de-stressing and to tackle tension.

Madison Avenue Salon & Day Spa is a go-to in Arizona. With two, current locations – and a third one opening next week, in Chandler Fulton Ranch – this full-service spa is known for providing trend-setting hairstyles (like the Brazilian blowout), cutting edge med spa services (like laser hair removal) and ultra-relaxing body wraps (like the purifying sea mud pack or detoxifying herbal linen wrap). Atop the stand-alone service offers, Madison Avenue has a great list of packages, including one for a teen birthday bash, groom & bride, and day of beauty. Also, a complete list of children’s services is available at reduced prices, so your kid can get a haircut as you get a foot massage. Aha, now we’re talking luxe!
