Janet Jackson Performs On American Idol Finale And Rocks New Short Hairstyle

The "American Idol" finale was on last night and while winner Lee DeWyze should be receiving all the buzz today but, it seems as if more people are interested in Bret Michaels' performance and Jacket Jackson’s new hairstyle.

While the ratings from last nights "American Idol" finale weren't that great, the show was anything but boring. It not only marked the end for one of the worlds most "loved to be hated" AI judges Simon Cowell it also was the stage for several great performances and guest appearances. However, it seemed as it most of the spotlight was placed on Janet Jackson's performance and even more so on her new short hairstyle.

The "American Idol" finale opened and seemed to be just another typical dragged out episode with boring performances but, as the night went on things got really exciting! Hours before the show aired rumors began to spread over a special guest appearing on the finale and, thanks to TMZ.com we found out that Bret Michaels was that special guest. Michaels' appearance was such a surprise because the rock star has recently just recovered from two recent very serious stints in the hospital.

Casey James opened the Bret Michaels performance (keep in mind that nobody knew Michaels would be performing at this moment) by singing the first few verses and chorus to "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" when literally, all of a sudden the crowd goes beyond nuts and the camera pans to Bret Michaels emerging. Can we say Goosebumps! So happy to see he is doing much better.

Later on in the evening came the one and only Miss. Jackson. Janet's performance opened up with the seasons 9 cast of Idol singing her hit 1993 single "Again." Janet then joined the cast midway through the chorus. She entered the staged looking beyond glamorous and debuted to the world a newly cut short, slicked back hair style that was totally reminiscent of a sleek and very sexy version of a 1990's Toni Braxton.

Janet then broke into her new single "Nothing" off the "Why Did I Get Married 2" soundtrack and then before the performance was over quickly changed into an awesomely sexy outfit for her 1986 hit song "Nasty." No joke, the entire performance was really amazing!!

Janet Jackson looked beyond fierce! Usually a fan of long locks, Janet is definitely able to rock this shorter hairstyle. Prior to cutting off all of her hair, Janet Jackson’s was known for having long flowing wavy locks with side bangs.

While some are speculating that her breakup with 7 year boyfriend/music producer Jermaine Dupri and her brother Michael's death that sparked the recent and very drastic change. It is more likely that the change of hairstyle is probably due to the fact that the singer, who just recently turned 44, was probably just looking for a new youthful and vibrant hairstyle.

Janet has been known to sport shorter hairstyles in the past, it is just that this time she went with a really short hairstyle. But, why not…she has a gorgeous face with amazing bone structure and if anybody can pull off this boyish hairstyle it is definitely Miss Janet!
