Soon-to-be-Mrs. Joel Madden has a new book out and a new focus in life.

Nicole Richie Brings a New Hairstyle to Her Book Signing

The once-infamous paparazzi target we knew as Nicole Richie from "The Simple Life" has been changing up her party girl resume as of late, with the 29-year-old mother of two and soon-to-be-wife of Good Charlotte's Joel Madden promoting the release of her second book, "Priceless" this week.

Lionel Richie's daughter was seen in New York City at Borders bookstore for her book signing and sporting a casual, but lovely, burnt honey-blonde hairstyle, which she paired with a wide-brimmed, black derby hat.

Perhaps, in an effort to impress a good motherly example upon her daughter, Harrow and son, Sparrow, Ritchie is keeping busier these days, by way of book signings, running her clothing line, Winter Kate and her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960 as creative director, and planning birthday fetes for her children. In contrast to her disco days, Richie is acquiring things like The New York Times Best-Seller List for her first book, "The Truth About Diamonds" and winning Entrepreneur of the Year for Glamour's "Women of the Year" award for her jewelry collection.

"Priceless," which was released September 28, is a rags-to-riches fictional story about a young woman whose life is turned upside down when her father is arrested for securities fraud. "I wanted to write a story about the journey of a girl's life and about the steps that she takes to find her place her in the world and find her own voice," Richie told the Press Herald.

"This book has been a project that I’ve put my heart and soul into and I’m happy that I get to share it with you here first," she wrote on her blog, where the book's first chapter is also posted for readers to check out.

When the former socialite is not working on her companies, she and fiancé Madden are putting their attention to the Richie Madden Children's Foundation, which they created to teach kids about giving back. Richie, who made a stop on Good Morning America as part of her book tour, also discussed how she got her life back on track. "I have to give credit to my family, my parents are so loving and supportive," said Richie, who explained her newer challenges like being responsible for her businesses and family motivated her. "I'm so blessed to be able to work and provide for my family, it's a really good feeling."

Her hairstyle is perhaps more motherly and domesticated, but still chic – a quality we'd expect no less than from the ever-stylish Nicole Richie.
