The VIP (Very Impressive Product) Pick of the Week #13

Posted 04/29/11 at 03:26PM by Audrey Fine

The Product: Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil

The Price: $54

The Promise: "Firms and tones, improving skin elasticity to help prevent slackening. This oil leaves skin soft and satin-smooth to the touch." "Also recommended to reduce appearance of stretch marks."

The Real Deal: I have twins. I gained 96 lbs. when pregnant with said twins. I used this oil (which soaks into skin in a second and doesn't leave a greasy film behind) every day and didn't get any stretch marks. Coincidence? Perhaps. Though my line-free belly and I wouldn't bet on it. I still use it every day post-shower and my skin is smooth, and much more taut than it ought to be at my (advancing) age.

The Upshot: It costs a pretty penny but a little goes a long way. Also, thanks to the combo of rosemary, geranium and mint essential oils, it smells heavenly and imparts a lovely, lingering scent all day -- so much so that half the time I don't even bother with fragrance. (Saves $ right there!) I will continue to buy this amazing oil forever and ever.

Not willing to pay that much for body oil unless it performs miricles!

I want to try it but I don't want to pay $54 to find out that it might not work. Does anyone know if they offer any free samples?

I have a hard time believing that essential oils could do that much in terms of firming and toning.

    I would consider trying that...but it's $54.00. I can't justify the cost...
