Each season, we go backstage at New York Fashion Week to scope out the hottest hairstyles, makeup looks and manicures. We interview the hairstylists, makeup artists and nail experts creating the looks we'll all be wearing six months from now.

For spring 2017, there is one overarching theme across all beauty trends: simplicity. Sure, a few designers took risks (ahem, pastel dreadlocks at Marc Jacobs), but most opted for looks that were wearable -- with a twist.

And these hair, makeup and nail looks are so pretty, we might just wear them now. Technically, they might be spring trends, but who's keeping track?

Makeup Trend: The New Red Lip
Season after season we see red lips on the runways, and this September was no different. However, for spring 2017, you'll want to add a pop of orange to your favorite red lip -- either by swapping it out for a different shade or by layering a coral blush on top.

Jason Wu
At Jason Wu, makeup artist Yadim gave five models a statement lip using Maybelline New York Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color, in Orange Shot. He added Maybelline New York Lip Studio Colorblur Cream Matte Lip Pencil, in Cherry Cherry Bang Bang to blur the edges a bit, and gave it an orange pop in the center with Maybelline New York Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color, in Orange Danger.

Carolina Herrera
At Carolina Herrera, makeup artist Diane Kendall proved you can pair a smoky eye with a red lip. To create the perfect lived-in lip, she dabbed on MAC Make-Up Art Cosmetics Enhance Me Casual Colour X 6 in Heavenly, which will be available early next year.
