Every season, we go backstage at New York Fashion Week to scope out the hottest hair, makeup and nail trends. At the Fall 2017 shows, however, there weren't many clear frontrunners. Instead, designers focused on individuality -- from amping up each model's natural hair texture to customizing makeup looks based on skin tone.

Rather than presenting wacky looks that don't apply to real life, these hair, makeup and nail ideas are fun and attainable. And since they're not must-follow trends, you can try them whenever you want -- no need to wait until fall. Whether you're looking for inspiration for colorful eye makeup or glittering manicures, there's something for you.

Blame Alicia Keys. No-makeup makeup was everywhere this season -- though some artists used more makeup to achieve the look than others. Regardless, the focus was on the skin -- and flawless skin is always in.

Backstage at Naeem Khan, makeup artist Gato was inspired by teenagers in Los Angeles. Using Maybelline makeup, he put the emphasis on the skin and flushed cheeks. Instead of blush, he applied Maybelline Matte Metallics by Color Sensational Lip Color, $7.49 in Copper Rose and Hot Lava, which launch in July.

At Proenza Schouler, faces were left almost completely bare. Models were given a mini facial with the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask, $58, and then makeup artist Diane Kendal used M.A.C. Studio Conceal and Correct Palette, $40, as needed.

Pink eye makeup has been around for a few seasons now, but with each iteration it becomes more wearable. The looks backstage ranged from barely noticeable peach shades to full-on rust-toned smoky lids. But one thing's for sure: It's time to try this trend.
