Wanna Lose Weight? Head To The Equator

You're actually skinnier the further you get from the poles
Wanna lose some weight? We've got a simple trick. Just get on a plane and head for the equator. You'll find that you've dropped a small bit of weight by the time you step on a scale.

Sure, it may not be the most economical (airfare isn't the cheapest, after all), but if you hate exercise and dieting, it could be just your thing. The equator diet, as we've been calling it, works thanks to the gravitational pull at the equator. The Earth's spin accelerates and pushes down on your body at different rates depending on where you are on the Earth. The closer you are to the poles, the slower it spins. Based on that alone, you weigh around .3 percent less at the equator. But then factor in the extra-strong gravity at the poles, and you actually end up weight around .5 lighter at the equator.

Not too shabby for not actually doing anything (except hopping on a plane and traveling to the equator, or whatever). We know you won't actually do this, but it is a nice excuse to use the next time you're feeling a bit heavier. [ion]
