If this whole acting doesn't work out, Lupita Nyong'o's already got her next side gig all planned out. She's going to be a hair braider. The Oscar-winner is actually super skilled when it comes braiding -- she learned how to do cornrows and box braids and twists thanks to an aunt who owns a hair salon. And to prove it, she invited six of her friends to get special Lupita-done braids for Vogue.


The braiding, she said, was initially going to be a side hustle while she was studying at Yale's School of Drama Arts. "But I just didn't have the heart to charge anyone."

"What I love about my hair texture and this kind of hair is you can do all sorts of interesting angular shapes with it," said Nyong'o, while braiding. "Braiding just tells a story. It's just like sculpting the locks, really." True enough. Do our hair, please? [Essence]
