What do Honey Boo Boo and nail art have in common? Soon, both will feature prominently in your nightly guilty pleasure reality TV veg-fest. Variety reports that Oxygen network is jumping on the tippy-tail end of the extreme nail art bandwagon with "Nailed It!," a new competition pitting breakout nail designers against each other for worldwide nail art domination. read more
I paint my own nails because 1) I change up my color just about every other day and 2) it's sort of therapeutic. All that trimming and filing and double coating to get that super bold red juuust right. It takes me to my happy place. read more
People love La La Anthony. They don't just like-love her, they looove her. Within an hour of Instagramming this photo, my phone blew up with texts from friends who were dying to know if she's as sweet and cool as they imagined. read more

Get ready to toss your pretty little pinks and summery corals -- punk looks were all over the runway at New York Fashion Week for Fall 2013, where these new hues from Deborah Lippman debuted. Always ahead of the curve, Lippman released this trio of textured polishes with names pulled from classic punk anthems from the Ramones , the Clash, and the Sex Pistols. It's the perfect way to tiptoe into the trend -- unless, of course, you want to die your hair green or get a safety pin piercing. read more
When it comes to my nails, I have three rules: They have to be short, squared, and anything but chipped. I prefer plain, bold colors, mostly because I do them myself and I often wear black, so a bright nail is the perfect way to add a pop of color. Nail stickers and decals were a thrill for me -- a cinch to use and the perfect way to create a fun, DIY look. Plus, by definition, they don't chip. And I got compliments on my uber-short, chic nails at every turn. So naturally, I wore them 24/7. read more
When we first took notice of actress Hailee Steinfeld, it was thanks to her Academy Award nominated portrayal of the definitively un-glam Mattie Ross in 2010's reboot of "True Grit." Back then, the 13 year-old was tapped as a major talent but also as a glaring newbie, and as such, had a lot to learn about the glamour aspect of her profession - and about holding her own in the spotlight. read more
My nails are wearing nail polish about 99.5 percent of time. The other 0.5 percent is that 20-minute-ish period between removing my polish and deciding what color to paint on next. I'll weigh the pros and cons of dark vs. light and Deborah Lipmann vs. Essie, all while cringing at my bare nails. Whether it's the creepy red tint that comes after wearing OPI's Fire Engine Red for a week, or that sickly yellow tint of nails that haven't seen the light of day in weeks, it's just, blegh -- I can't wait to cover it all up a fresh coat of polish. read more
Full disclosure: before I tried Inoco Nail Stickers, I'd never used nail appliques before. In fact, my nails tend to stay bare because I have zero patience (or skill) for polishing and waiting for it to dry is like, well, watching paint dry. I know I have better things to do with my time. So, I picked out a set of Inoco's magenta stickers to test. I figured ... how hard can it be to slap a few stickers on my nails? And, I was right. It's simple. The whole process requires little more than the stickers, a nail file, and fine motor skills. After applying the first few stickers, I was putting them on like a pro -- it took about ten minutes to put on the whole set. The only part I found challenging was filing off the extra and not ripping the sticker in the process. read more

If you ever thought your nails were unimportant or if you've been neglecting your hands, now is the time to make them a priority. Just like your skin, they can dry out, peel, break, and become infected. Manicures and pedicures are cosmetic procedures that can help you keep your hands and feet healthy by grooming, trimming, buffing, and painting your nails, as well as managing calluses.
Taking Care of Your Nails
Make an effort to take good care of your nails, and you will be thrilled by the way they complement your own personal style. One easy way to keep them healthy is to drink lots of water. By keeping your body hydrated every day, you'll keep them hydrated, as well. Also, touch up your manicure on a daily basis to prevent chips and cracks and avoid using your nails as tools. This means no using them to pry things open, scrape things off, etc.
Other natural ways to keep your nails healthy include drinking fresh carrot juice daily, making sure that you keep them clean and moisturized, and making sure that your nail salon has hygienic practices.
