  • We've already settled the issue of what order your skin care products should go on (get the full scoop here), but now there's a new beauty debate raging over at TotalBeauty.com: What's the "correct" makeup method, foundation first, then concealer? Or concealer and then foundation?

  • Personally, I apply foundation first and then concealer anywhere that still looks uneven, but according to some, I'm doing it all wrong. Check out these reader's opinions below and weigh in: which do you think is right? Or is there one right way at all?

  • "For a light concealer coverage, the concealer goes on first since your foundation will wipe away some of your concealer coverage. For a heavy coverage, put your concealer coverage on after your foundation." -- makeupaholic

  • "I put on foundation before concealer. I only use concealer on my dark circles under my eyes." -- Miss_Vicki

  • "I read in one of Bobbi Brown's books to apply concealer first, then the foundation with a 'light hand.' OR apply concealer first THEN set with powder. Follow with foundation, then a final layer of powder. But that's too much trouble and layers.

  • That being said, what I do is apply the foundation first, because it evens my skin tone and gives a little coverage. Then I don't have to use as much concealer as I would have if I did it first! I use Maybelline's Double Face Perfector Concealer/Highlighter, and it says to apply over foundation. It works for me!" -- Supernaturalfan

  • "If something works for you, DO IT! Who made the rules anyway and when were they made? There is no such thing as cosmetics prison/court for rule breakers. Rules are made to be broken or we'd all look the same." -- makeupaholic

  • • No matter what order finally wins, you'll need quality products to use. Find the best foundations here and concealers here.

  • • And please, stay away from these awful foundations and concealers. It's for your own good, trust me.
