Paula Abdul's Style Changes with Her Career

Paula Abdul's decision to leave American Idol has many fans shocked. But the dynamic dancer and singer, now known best as Idol's "nice" judge, has followed several career changes in her lifetime, and has sported even more hairstyles. Today we share Paula Abdul's beauty hits and misses, as we wait to see what her next career (and look) will be!

When her first album debuted in the late 80s, Abdul rocked the big, fluffy hair, scrunchies and bright makeup true to the decade. But she never really let go of that big hair. Here in 1990, she sports bright red lipstick, and red hair styled sky high.

After going all dark with her Spellbound album, Abdul lightened up with a shorter cut. She rocked it both as a blown out flip and then later extra curly. She also toned down her makeup, for a more natural look.

In 2000, Abdul reverted to piled-high updos and chunky blonde highlights.

As Abdul's career took a major leap toward success with American Idol, her style did too. Here in 2002, she finally let her hair down into pretty layers.
Abdul's hair has had as many ups and downs as her life! While the big-hair queen became quite 2008 and 2009!
