How to Add the Perfect Scents to Your Home

Since fall is coming up and winter isn't far behind, you'll probably be spending more time in your house. Keep it smelling nice with these tips from Harry Slatkin of Slatkin & Co.:
Be honest with yourself when picking a scent for your home. If you like fruit, buy fruit. If you wear exotic scents, try exotic scents.
After you have found your favorites -- and your nose will know -- mix in something out-of-the-ordinary to take it to the next level and make something signature.
Let your nose dictate how far you go with scent. If you feel like something is not working, don't risk it.
Home fragrance should be inviting, welcoming people effortlessly into your home. You never want to offend guests. If you see a guest start to tear up, crinkle their nose or sneeze often, you went too far.
Test your fragrance scheme first alone before trying it out for the first time on your guests, and leave the room or home for a minute to clear your senses. You'll get the best idea of what works and doesn't when you reenter the space.
