  • Eyelash Growing Products: Miracle-Workers or All Hype?

  • Some might consider me a pessimist, but I think I'm more of a realist. So whenever I hear about "miracle eyelash-growing creams," my bs radar perks up. True, there are products that can re-grow hair with varying degrees of success, but I still have my doubts, especially about some of the non-prescription products.

  • I must admit though, in this instance I think my caution is only somewhat warranted. I've heard great things from people about Latisse -- and even some of the non-prescription products too. Check out a few of them below, do you think any are worth trying?

  • Beauty Society Enormous Lash Eyelash Enhancing Serum, $95: My mom tried this, and in about a month she went from sparse, are-they-even-there lashes to ones so long she didn't even bother with mascara. I was truly impressed. Also, 19 TotalBeauty.com readers have tried it, and all but three absolutely love it.

  • DHC Eyelash Tonic, $19.99: Only one TotalBeauty.com reader has tried this, but the natural ingredients do make it appealing.

  • Talika Eyelash Conditioning Cream, $30 and Talika Lipocils Gel, $40: This has been around since 1947! Eight readers on TotalBeauty.com claim the cream works wonders and more than 40 are loving the gel.

  • Peter Thomas Roth Lashes to Die for Night Time Eyelash Conditioning Treatment, $125: There are only two real reviews of this on TotalBeauty.com right now, but neither are very good (although the high price tag might be responsible). Do you know anyone who's had a different experience?

  • RevitaLash, $150: This one has been around for awhile, and 30 people have reviewed it on TotalBeauty.com. Most are very positive, but for that price, you'll want to read the reviews and decide for yourself.

  • P.S. I know a lot of people have heard rumors about Latisse changing your eye color. I talked to dermatologist Dr. Jessica Wu, who is working with Latisse, and she said that the changing eye color happened when they were originally using the product to treat glaucoma. It really only happened while patients were putting it directly in their eyes at larger doses for years. So while there is a slim chance it could happen, it's not the huge concern most people are making it out to be.

  • • Would you rather just make your lashes look longer with mascara? Then try one of these stellar products.

  • • Does Latisse freak you out or are you dying to try it? Talk about it here.

  • • You could have the longest lashes ever, but if your eyes suffer from this, you'll never be satisfied.

    • I have been using Rapid lash for about 8 weeks now, mainly to fill in missing parts of my eyebrows, which it claims to do as well as lengthen lashes. At first I thought that I made a mistake in trying Rapid Lash, but this was mainly my fault. Rapid Lash gives specific instructions to apply only once per day and if you apply more than once, there is no additional benefit. Well, I thought if once per day is good, twice per day has to be better! I was very wrong. I started to have very irritated and red eyes. O.K. so I stopped using Rapid Lash for a couple days and then decided maybe I should follow the instructions! So I carefully applied the product to my eyebrows, upper and lower lashes, being very careful to apply the product to the lid/lash line. To make this long story short, Rapid Lash is working for me. I can see my eyebrows filling in with very fine and light color hair (I am blonde) but my lashes are growing like crazy, where I will hit the lenses of my glasses when I bat my eyelids. It was probably not the smartest thing to try it again after experiencing eye irritation, but being careful with the application and applying it only once per day before going to bed, is working great for me.

    • I hesitated and hesitated to purchase Lilash, but I desperately wanted long gorgeous lashes. For around 135 dollars for a tube of stimulator that might/might not work will definitely make everyone think twice. So, beside the price and the side affects, I gave up in the name of beauty. Eyelash simulators are not very common in Australia so when I did a google search Lilash popped up, compared to other simulators I read in blogs and sites Lilash seem to be the one that most people claim to work. I guess I am a bit of a sucker when it comes to marketing, especially when it\'s something I wanted so bad the first place and I was not blessed with natural long lashes. I ended up buying my tiny tub from Ebay, it was cheaper and more convenient for me. I have now been using it one daily religiously hoping a miracle to happen. OMG the first time I tried it my eye lids felt so droopy like I have not slept for days. My eyes were red as ever and I could not concentrate while I was working, it didn\'t sting so much that it hurt, but it was definitely irritating. Honestly I was about to email my seller and asked for my money back but I was determine to not give up. Then my paranoia kicked in and I thought this maybe damaging to my eye so I did some research and it seemed safe enough. I went through blogs again and picked up some tips, like not to apply it when you are just about to sleep as it may sink into your eye and to blow dry your lashes after applying it. Thank goodness now my eyes can handle it. I apply it once a day after work, right after I remove my daily make up. Now is too early to say whether it was worth the money on not cause I have only had this on for 9 to 10 days but I can say my lashes are a tiny bit longer, nothing to write home about. Off topic I have to say how much I love this site, I wish I discovered it earlier. I am such a freak when it comes to beauty and fashion :)

    • What about Rapid Lash? I\'ve been using it for about 5 weeks now, and my lashes are much longer and are starting to thicken up. It doesn\'t darken them though, or at least not mine - my lashes are still light brown. But once I apply mascara, I have killer lashes. I read a LOT of reviews before buying it, and it seemed to work well for about 9 out of 10 people. I am also using the DHC Eyelash Tonic under my mascara during the day, as they suggested. To my surprise, it\'s an excellent primer for mascara. I fell asleep with my mascara on, and my lashes looked exactly the same when I woke up. My mascara didn\'t budge. I\'m also using the Rapid Lash & DHC on my eyebrows, since they have started thinning as I got older. They\'re filling back in nicely. Rapid Lash sells for about $50, but if you shop around online, you can get it for as little as $30. It\'s supposed to last one month, but even using it on my brows too, it looks like I\'ll get close to 2 months out of it. I used Talika Lipocils in the past and didn\'t see any results.

    • That blog was really useful. I have tried the Enormous lash enhancing serum. It worked!! I was really surprised. I wish it was more affordable.
