Overseas Holiday: Hand Sanitizer There's nothing worse than getting sick on the trip you've been saving all year for, so make sure that you bring a bottle of hand sanitizer on your international flight. A study showed you're 100 times more likely to get sick while flying versus going about your daily life. Bacterial hotbeds on planes include seat pockets and tray tables (in a recent test, four out of six trays were shown to have traces of the antibiotic-resistant bacteria MRSA and norovirus) and, natch, bathrooms, which host E. coli bacteria aplenty. Not too surprising given that most carriers deep-clean planes just once a month.
Don't wait until your plane takes off to break out your sanitizer, though: Airports also rank high on the list of places you're likely to get sick.
