Nails: Glossy Metallics If you can't get enough shine, you'll love the metallic mani. At Mara Hoffman, manicurist Honey applied a base coat followed by two coats of Maybelline New York Color Show Holographic Effects in Bold Gold, noting that no top coat was needed because the polish dries matte. For a more modern and sophisticated look, keep the nails shorter -- "just at the skin or a little bit longer," says Jin Soon Choi, who created the dark metallic nails at Vera Wang.
