The Oil That Cures Your Gnarly Feet You're probably already familiar with tea tree oil's acne-fighting abilities. (One study found it's as effective as a 5 percent concentration of benzoyl peroxide in treating pimples.) But you probably didn't know that you could be using it from head to toe -- literally. Tea tree oil has antifungal properties, and it's been clinically shown to treat the symptoms of Athlete's foot -- redness, itching, dryness and burning -- as well as an over-the-counter cream with clotrimazole.
DIY: Apply the oil directly to your feet, or make a foot soak by adding 20-30 drops of tea tree oil to a tub of hot water and mellowing for about 15 minutes. Do either application two to three times a day until symptoms subside.
