The Only Jacket You'll Be Needing This Summer

After months of seeing these delicate, fanned out earrings all over the red carpet and throughout the blogosphere, I finally found out their proper name: Ear jackets. And while the phrase might not send you running to the nearest jewelry store, these images will. Ear jackets are the slightly subdued, classier version of last summer's big and bold ear cuffs (they were all over the punk-themed Met Gala red carpet). Just slip them onto any earring post. Our favorite thing about this accessory trend? They're appropriate for any occasion, from the red carpet to the boardroom. Here's why.   read more

Hit List: The Trendy Gadget We're Coveting

My closet is so full of purses, jewelry and shoes, I'm beginning to run out of excuses for why I really "need" that next trendy item. Maybe that's why I'm gravitating toward the old school, metallic and just plain cool headphones I've been spotting on celebs and fashion bloggers. Even Karl Lagerfeld got in on the hype, outfitting the models in his Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week runway show with black quilted pairs. And let's not forget -- headphones aren't just another trendy accessory. They're functional. That's excuse enough to go out and snap a pair.   read more

Love It or Hate It: Birkenstocks Are Back

The words "fashionable" and "comfortable" don't often go together when it comes to the latest trends. But this season, celebrities, fashion bloggers and designers alike are hitting the streets (and the runways) in a '90s (and '70s) throwback -- Birkenstocks. And whether you're on board with the whole "normcore" trend or not, everyone can agree these slide-on sandals make appearing trendy pretty effortless.   read more

The Bag We're Adding to Our Bucket List

There are two accessory pieces that first come to mind when we start transitioning our wardrobes for warm weather -- shoes and bags. While we couldn't be more excited to toss our rainboots to the side and break out the sandal wedges and cozy espadrilles, truth is, the newest crop of spring handbags has us lusting for our next tote. Namely, bucket bags.   read more

Stroll the Boardwalk in Summer's Cutest Espadrilles

Your summertime footwear options probably look something like this: flip flops or strappy sandals. Fair enough. After months of being trapped in socks, tights, boots and sneakers, your feet are dying to break free. But the warmer weather isn't solely reserved for poolside lounging and barefoot activities, which is why comfy and cute espadrilles are a must for any summer closet.   read more

All That Glistens Is Rose Gold

Making its first global appearance in jewelry, rose gold swept the fashion industry as the chicest accessory color combo to hit the runway. In an attempt to give the trend even more staying power, designers branched out from jewelry and into bigger accessory and fashion items, with rose gold details on shoes, handbags and even clothing. Now anything goes -- from iPhone cases to Nike Fuel bands to curling irons. And thanks to Sienna Miller, it's even the "It" hair color for summer.   read more

Fringe Fest: Tassels Take Over Coachella

The only thing more fun about a trend making a comeback is when it is reinvented in a way that's so fresh, anyone can pull it off. Take fringe, for instance. The tasseled trim usually reserved for Western flair, Gatsby-esque flappers, and free-spirited hippies is reemerging with a chicer -- and, dare we say, almost classic -- aesthetic. Labels like Valentino and Celine gave the look staying power with the launch of their spring/summer collections, which featured patent leather wallets and boho bags with ornate fringe detailing. As predicted, the trickle-down tassel effect is flooding the music festival scene this year. "It" girls like Poppy Delevigne and Fergie showed off their version of fringe at Coachella -- making it the coolest revival since the cat-eye.   read more

These Boots Were Made for Puddle Jumping

Spring has sprung and we're oh so ready to toss our heavy winter boots in favor of open toe wedges. However, when the weather calls for gray skies and rain dripping down window panes, the last thing we want to do is throw on a pair of pricey leather sandals.   read more

Waisted Elegance: Add Polish With Statement Belts

With all of the flowy silhouettes of whimsical maxi dresses and billowy palazzo pants trending this season, it makes sense that statement belts are also on the hit-list this spring. From basic neutrals to colorful pastels and metallic accents, these oversized belts add punch and polish to your look while giving extra definition to the waist.   read more

Everything Is Illuminated: Must-Get Iridescent Accessories

We hope you have your sunglasses handy because it's about to get bright this spring. We're not talking about the punchy florals that crop up this time every year. Rather, glowy iridescent fabrics turned every spring/summer runway into a shiny metallic and rainbow laser show. And now, fashion bloggers and A-listers are ablaze with their own take on Fashion Week's holographic trend.   read more

Try This Trend: Floral Hair Accessories

After a winter that could make even the shiniest optimists falter, spring has finally arrived. And with it, comes a new crop of warmer-weather trends that spurn all things stark or frosty. Our favorite spring accessory trend: floral hair accessories. The styles on our radar -- intricate floral headbands, teeny tiny daisy adhesives, hyacinth clips and soft rose barrettes -- are flirty and feminine, of course, but understated and sophisticated for a look you can pull off every day.   read more

The Cure for Poshitis: Micro Bags

Try This Trend: Your Initials --> Here

Wearing anything embroidered with your initials may seem like toddler onesie territory, but monogrammed accessories are hot right now. Designers like Ralph Lauren and Burberry are in on it, and the fashion savvy are snapping up personalized pieces of all sorts -- from purses and ponchos to necklaces and statement rings. Instead of brandishing a designer label, think of it as flaunting your very own logo. Online clothing stores like KItson and jewelry websites like Etsy and Nordstrom are offering customers the option to sew or stamp initials on just about anything right now. If the trend seems a bit too preppy, follow Kourtney Kardashian's lead and wear your kiddo's initials on a necklace.   read more

Do This Fashion Don't

Navy blue and black. Gold with silver. Denim on denim. These age-old fashion rules may have made you cringe back in the day (and still might), but let's face it: there are no rules in fashion that can't be broken. Case in point: socks with heels.   read more

No, Seriously. Sneakers Are Back

It should come as no surprise in the middle of this never-ending winter of snow days (plus marathon walking-around events like New York Fashion Week) that some of our favorite trendsetters are trading in mile-high heels for sensible (but always chic) sneaks. The kicks of choice? Along with Nike, Converse and Adidas trainers, labels typically associated with high fashion (think Chanel, Dior) are getting in on the game. And they've taken the simple sneaker up a few notches with metallic gold patent leather, gems -- even low heels. It's safe to say you won't see those couture styles running up and down a court, but we're happy for any excuse to leave the stilettos in the closet.   read more

The Throwback Pack

It seems like just yesterday we were excited to stuff our brand new zip-up backpacks with pencil boxes, notebooks and binders. Somewhere along the way, we grew up. We ditched sneakers for heels, colored pencils for lip crayons and, naturally, those trusty backpacks graduated into oversized totes, ornate clutches and coveted designer bags. But as anyone on vigilant trend watch knows, even the most mundane or unfashionable items can have a major fashion moment. (See: sweatshirts). To wit, your middle school backpack is officially "in." With a few updates, of course.   read more
