We turn to our smart phones for everything from news updates to boredom-busting games. But can they help us lose weight? See the best fitness apps that just might get you to shed those pounds fast
MyNetDiary Pro, $3.99 If you like all your information in one place and are borderline OCD, then MyNetDiary Pro is for you. With purportedly the largest food database in the world, you can log in your food points and caloric intake easily. It also has a built-in barcode scanner, which you can use to scan any and all food items at the grocery store for an immediate nutritional value. You can also find exercise regimens, calculate your calories burned, and log these into your "diary" as well. And finally, this app tracks your daily steps, blood pressure, how much you sleep, and even how many cups of water you drink.
Can't believe they didn't mention MyFitnessPal! Great for tracking calories, setting goals.. Also, if you have any FitBit products, their site is really good. I can't recommend the FitBit Aria scale and FitBit One tracker enough...such good products!
My phone is my go to gadget for everything, with a few new fitness apps, I'll have a new bit of motivation. My Net Diary is my absolute fave, y'all have to try it!
Love Nike Training Club but hate Lose it and MyNetDiary... MyFitnessPal is a much better app and it's free. What I love is the water counter and the enormous food dictionary. A miss not to have it on this list!
I use RunKeeper and MyFitnessPal. I use MyFitnessPal daily to log exercise and food calories. It's been really helpful for me, since I'm trying to get back in shape again.
I love Lose It!! It's the best food journal for on the goers. I don't have time to pull out a notebook and log everything i eat. With this, you can snap a picture of the barcode and adjust how much of it you ate and it will do the rest for you. I am going to try the Snack App. I never even heard of it. Sound interesting.
There was some very helpful info in this article. The apps reviewed were all spot on for weight loss efforts and the prices (not to mention the free ones) were VERY reasonable. Thank you.
I wonder if any of these apps are on the Android Market? The zombie app looks AWESOME!! I would also like to try the sleep cycle alarm clock... hmm... This may end up being the perfect excuse to buy that iPhone I have always wanted!
Good list! I have a few of these already and I like them. Another good one that isn't listed is My Fitness Pal (as listed by another commenter below, I just noticed). I love it and I've lost 12 pounds so far using it semi-regularly (I have some health stuff going on and sometimes I just don't have the energy to keep track and log everything).
My Fitness Pal is free and one of the best tools I've ever used to lose weight and get fit. Weird that it's not on this list. I'm interested in trying the sleep cycle app, though. That sounds like a good idea. Hope they have it for Droid phones.
The exact title should be 12 iPhone Apps That'll Make You Skinny. I know it is hard to beleive, but a lots of people use non Apple smarthones, and they are happy with them, and they even use applications. Please next time think of this before waisting my time.
