Road Test: The Best Makeup on Pinterest
We tried the fall makeup trends everyone's pinning to help you figure out which looks are worth trying to mimic. Here are the ones to try
Mulberry lipFall's biggest trend is the plum lip, so it's no surprise that there are hundreds of versions on Pinterest. I have yet to find the perfect mulberry shade, so I moved on to plan B: a cocktail of three wine-colored tints. First, I applied a dark base using MAC Lipstick in Yung Rapunxel, $15; then I applied Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Strumpet, $16; I finished the look with Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Naivete, $45.
My hints: Smudges and fading color are easier to spot when you're wearing a bold lip, so I always apply a lip liner as a base. My favorite is Lipstick Queen Invisible Lip Liner, $18. Just like when you color your hair a darker shade, diving into the vampy palettes means you have to change the rest of your makeup, too. I applied a rich bronzer so my complexion complemented the lipstick. I left my eyelids bare to avoid clashing colors.
