This article is right on the money. I suffered from acne as a teenager, but now I'm dealing with frequent, deep, painful cystic acne. It's a constant frustration for me, and I'm always looking for further education on the matter. All of these tips seem to fall in line with what my aesthetician has told me. Thank you!

Very helpful... I suffer from adult acne and was having a particular hard time trying to treat it ... the products that once worked for as a teen, did nothing for my skin now.... now i know why lol.... I will def. be searching for these ingredients next time around.... Btw It would have been nice to see a few product recommendations that were a bit cheaper in price... Just saying....

I was embarressed about having this at almost 27 and i do admit to being incredibly vain. No matter what I have tried nothing seems to help and most skin care products I have got from the drug store have dried my skin way too much. I now use an all natural skin carew product by mama nature. It is an acne treatment for teenagers (well I presume so from the name) but it is by way and a far better than everything else. It has reduced the greasiness to a normal level, cleared my acne, moisturizes my skin and has left my skin feeling soft and silky to touch. Look into natural skin care products it is the best thing I have ever done in the fifteen years or so I have been using skin care products.

I didn't know that adult acne has to be treated differently from teenage acne. I've had acne since in my teens. It was on my forehead and nose in my teens and is now on my cheeks and chin at 30. I would have never thought of putting oil on my face before especially with it already being oily.

Acne has been the bane of my existence since I was 11 years old. I left the pizza face stage around 18 and then, bring on the adult cystic acne thank you very much. I can keep it under control when I wash my face every single day. If I miss just 1 day, it is guaranteed I will have blemish the next day. I am going to try a couple of these remedies. Thank you!

Once my acne turned into golf balls on my face I endured 6 months of Accutane. It was worth every penny. I am about to turn 30 and I have bigger issues to deal with now, like wrinkles.

I never had a pimple, blemish, etc.. until I was 23 yrs old. Now going on 3 years it has been the toughest battle for me to fight. It has really hurt my Self Confidence and I'm Determined it is NOT going to define ME anymore.. I have found this article very informative and i realize some things as far as my Everyday Lifestyle has to change. Such as Water Intake, Sleep, Stress Reduction, and the answer to fighting Adult Acne doesn't just Lie in a Bottle, Tube, or Miracle Ingredient!! Okay, I tried a few of the tips listed. I found that intake of water helps, and adjusting my diet. Also, stress is a big factor in the appearence of skin for me.

Both me and my older brother have issues with adult acne. One time I went to visit him and noticed that the skin on his face looked almost perfect. Baffled, I asked him how he got rid of his acne and he told me about an antibotic his doctor prescribed him that was specifically geared toward killing only the single bacteria species that caused acne. Sounded almost too good to be true, but now I am on it and it has helped me alot, even though I still get some less severe breakouts on occasion (likely due to hormone level changes).

I don't have the budget to buy these high dollor products. What would recommend for someone on a very small, tight budget. I get the cysts and I am tired of dealing with them. There is a great deal of information here. Great article.

good story on adult acne, although i don't agree that people should move to antibiotics or birth control pills. Long-term use of either has its own side effects and can create other health problems. Some people do have really good luck changing their diet and cutting out casein (found in cow's dairy products) and even gluten. If you want to try that, make sure your skin care products don't also contain gluten or dairy!

Ladies, don't hesitate to see your physician or dermatologist for acne medication! If you've been suffering with acne since your teens, and you're an adult now, get some prescription treatments. I've had acne since my young teens, and kept trying everything from drugstore to department store products, and my acne was still terrible. It even started scarring! Do not wait. Accutane was the only thing that tamed my acne.

in know plenty of people with dogs and cats who rub their faces all over their pets faces etc and they have perfect skin i think acne is caused by a number of differing contributing factors for everyone....bottom line is no matter what i seem to do it wont go away and i cabt afford to see a derm or pay for expensive meds etc ....and mine is worse now then ever in hs my skin was perfect...19 hits boom its a disaster :-( my sister had the worst acne ever and starrted proactive and has been on it for about 2 years and its basically gotten rid of her acne completely, my mother had such bad acne growing up she was on acutane, and the doctors back then would use hot ice to burn the skin....left major scarring ....alas i feel like it will never go away im even on birth control thats supposed to help get rid of it and it seems to be worse than before the pill. HELP!

I thought I was supposed to grow out of this lol. It seems that the acne's getting worse as I'm getting older and its leaving scars all over. I'm using the Clarisonic brush which is supposed to be really good, but I think it's just my skin. My mom even took Accutane and she still breaks out! Alas, no matter what I do it's genetic...

I have never had a problem with pimples before but now that I finally turned 22 I am getting a few on my cheeks. I am thinking it might be from my pillow cases... I really hope changing them out more often keeps these random pimples at bay!

I just wanted to add something that no one, teens to adults stop to think about, but that I have and have seen the results first hand! I have found from having 4 daughters and two that went through extreme acne, once I convinced them about Doggie kisses and unneeded bacteria on their face and in their systems their conditions slowly went away! The other 2 girls didn't go through it because they like me would only excepted doggie kisses on their hands! I am not saying that it is the main contributor but I am saying it is a big part of it! Doggie Lovers everywhere beware, those kisses just might be the cause of your acne, young or old!
