Luckily I don't often have an oily hair problem, but when my hair is looking a big greasy I love a dry shampoo. Seems to work wonders on my hair.

The John Frieda Luxurious Thickening Mousse works wonders I use it all the time. I also use tresemme clarifying shampoo its also good for oily hair.

A great cheap product I have found to work is Psssttt spray. You can purchase this dry shampoo at Walmart for approximately $5. It comes in a white aerosol can. For a more expensive option, Oscar Blandi has a powder as well as a spray dry shampoo. I have purchased this at Sephora. They have a travel size which I keep in my bag for days I have to run out of the house. Having oily hair can be so difficult. I LOVE how you guys have helped give me so many options! Thank you!

In my opinion, dealing with oily skin is just as much of a nightmare as dealing with oily hair!! My head and face produce SO much oil and it sucks. I've found that if you scrub your scalp with one of the shampoos listed above, rinse, then use a moisturizing shampoo on the rest of your hair, it won't dry out the strands. When my hair gets oily during the day, I use the same product I use on my face - a powder called Mattify Ultra. It's a white powder that soaks up oil, so when I need a dry shampoo, i put it on my roots and blend through with my fingertips. Works pretty well, but I still wish there were some pill i could take to stop all the oil!!

the best thing to do to *really* purify or clean your hair is to dilute about 1/2 cup of baking soda in about 1-2 cups of water and slowly pour that over your head when in the shower, and really rub it in there. (don't just dump it or it won't work as well). also, between shampoos, sprinkling a bit of corn starch on greasy spots (and then either brushing it through or working it in with your hands) works really well. make sure you work it in, though, or else your [brunette] hair will look gray!
