Melt-Proof Summer Makeup TrendsThe hottest makeup trends for Summer 2011, plus expert tips on how to get your look to stay put |
Summer makeup trend #4: Gold makeup "Not everyone will be able to pull off the golden lip or lash shown at the Rodarte Spring/Summer 2011 runway show, but what everyone can pull off is an ethereal glow," says Kae. For a wearable, summer-proof version of the metallic trend, lightly tap Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion, $24 on the high-planes of your cheeks after applying your makeup.
For eyeshadow, the shade of gold depends on your skin tone. If you have pink undertones, use warmer golds. For olive undertones, use yellowy, brighter golds. For brown undertones, use pink golds, and for yellow undertones, opt for dark brown golds.
Melt-Proof Makeup Tip: To keep eye makeup from smudging, take a large eyeshadow brush and dip it into loose powder. Apply the powder just around the edges of your eye makeup to keep it from bleeding, says Rodriguez.

I was hoping for some good tips to keep make-up from dripping with the steamy FL heat. Powders help, but I've tried it on my eyelids and it doesn't seem to work to keep color from "traveling" there.

love the urban decay cheek tint, it adds just the right amount of color and never looks 'painted on'

This is a great article.. very helpful since I live in a desert state. Hot and dry so light layers of makeup is the key. But this article was for summer 2011 - why so outdated? Are the colors recommended still working in summer 2012?
