Sweat reduction treatment Stress on the job can get you a little (or OK, a lot) sweaty, which can be the cause of many a fashion-malfunction. While perspiration is normal (regulated by the autonomic nervous system) and for most part manageable with a good antiperspirant, some people suffer from hyperhidrosis, a condition where the creation of sweat is excessive, says Sendogan. "Most people who suffer from hyperhidrosis don’t even realize it; they expect that they are sweating due to changes in hormone levels, which is possible, but not always the case," he says. For those dealing with excessive sweat, doctors can now alleviate hypersensitive sweating with Botox, which works to disable sweat glands in problem areas.
The procedure takes about 20 to 30 minutes and "underarm sweating will be decreased by 90 percent within 48 hours and the full effect will be felt within one week," says Sendogan. One treatment lasts from six to 12 months and costs about $850.
