Sassy Chignon: Kate Winslet in "The Holiday"
If Kate Winslet can swap homes with Cameron Diaz onscreen, why can't you swap looks with her here? We love this easy, sophisticated updo for turning heads at the office holiday party. Here's how to snag it for yourself, says Jeffrey Jagged, a stylist at the Cristophe Salon in Beverly Hills, Calif.:Step 1: Pump up the volume with a spray volumizer (try Suave Professionals Volumizing Root Lifter Spray Gel, $3.49) and blow dry hair upside down.
Step 2: Flip your hair back up and secure in a ponytail.
Step 3: Now comes the tricky part: Pinch pieces of hair from the top hairline and pull upward (“Only on top!” cautions Jagged).
Step 4: Spray into place, then wrap the ponytail around itself and secure into a bun.
And, if at first you don’t succeed, definitely try again. “Sometimes that perfect messiness takes a couple tries,” says Jagged.
