My starting pointWeight: 147 pounds Wrinkles: 69th percentile Pores: 73rd percentile UV Spots: 17th percentile Red Areas: 46th percentile
To get a sense of my skin health and overall well-being before embarking on the "Crazy, Sexy Diet," I visit the Murad Inclusive Health Spa for a skin evaluation. (I'll have them check me again the end of this 21-day detox, in case you're curious about the beauty benefits of this cleanse.)
Murad esthetician Lori Cahitas checks my hydration levels, along with wrinkles and pore size (both indicators of skin hydration), sun damage, redness, and more. While I feel OK about my percentiles on the wrinkles and pore size front -- I'm in my 30s, so being in the 70th percentile on both felt about right to me -- I'm horrified by my UV spots. I'm fair-skinned (my mom was born in Ireland) and spent the summers of my youth on the beach, so that number makes me nervous about my chances of getting skin cancer. My sobering UV percentile is making me even more excited to start this detox, which I'm considering my prevent-cancer plan thanks to Carr's amazing story.
Loving this author! I did a 21-day detox along with mom in 2009. There were pills, juicing, and things to avoid. I had conferences scheduled during the beginning so I wasn't able to be as strict then. I stuck to veggies or the healthiest options available. My mom was busy in the middle when I was more at home! I've done smaller versions and weaned myself off meds since then. :-)
Would love to find a detox buddy. I make my green drink night before and make enough for 2 or 3 days. Have lost 5 pounds and I do not need to lose weight but I feel great and my clothes feel great. I am heading for 80% raw as I type this. Lots of fresh veggies and fruits and greens.
My daughter and I eat healthy and this diet is not scary but a note of good things to come for me---like the loss of 40+ lbs thast I've wanted off for years!

I think I could do this, but the green juices? I just don't think they would go down!

This sounds like a great detox diet. I usually eat pretty healthy, but I'm a carnivore. I don't want to give up meat, but I may try this!
