9 Best Braiding Video Tutorials
This schoolgirl favorite is all grown up. See the 9 new braided hairstyles we can't get enough of and learn exactly how to do them
One of my favorite childhood memories is playing "Pretend Bride" with Tom, my best friend in the first grade (requisite Ring Pop on my finger, of course). Whenever I got ready for my walk down the front yard aisle, I always put my hair in the "perfect" bridal look: braided pigtails.
While I'm still waiting for my Prince Charming -- it didn't work out with my elementary school flame -- braids remain my go-to hairstyle, although I've evolved from the pigtails.

I'm not the only one giving braids a grown up twist. Women everywhere are manipulating plaits to look like a waterfall, a fishtail, and even a crown worthy of a duchess-turned-princess. And while braids might seem like a fleeting trend, I'd argue they -- and their ever-growing variations -- are here to stay.
As much as I love wearing these hairstyles, actually executing them can be difficult. So to figure out exactly how to make these pretty braids a reality on my head, I watched hundreds of YouTube videos for braiding tutorials to find the ones that do the best job teaching me how to get these pretty plaits on my own. And with braid bars charging $25 a pop, learning how to braid your own hair is definitely worth a shot. (But if you're still wary of video-tutotials, check out this easy step-by-step for how to master the waterfall braid.) See my top 9 picks for the best braiding tutorials so that you can wear this hot trend, too.
