Fishtail braid Though the fishtail (or herringbone) braid looks unconventional without the three distinct sections of a regular braid, it's actually much easier to do since you only need to work with two sections of hair. TheBeautyDept's video tutorial gives you clear step-by-step directions, and the queen of braids, Lauren Conrad illustrates each step for you.

Bonus tip: Since you have to separate your hair into different sections constantly, make sure your hair is well brushed before starting.

The "half dutch braid" is called a "lace braid". Also, for a DUTCH braid, you ARE bringing the pieces UNDER the center strand not over. You bring them OVER for a french braid. It was fun to see all these braids in one article. I've always loved braiding since I was a kid & have always believed they're for every age, despite some people's opinions. I have been loving all the new videos sharing tips. I especially love CuteGirlsHairstyles and was so glad they got to be in this article. :)

I cant believe the simplicity of the fishtail braid, I always look at anything different from the standard braid and believe it too be too difficult, who knew!

I love this article as it makes braiding seem like just about anyone can do at least some of them!I have never had much ability to do any styling so would often sticl with pin straaight bobs in various lengths etc. I dont need to use any implements at all for the most part wash n go. Recently I have let my hair grow and am considering judt having it trimmed and trying some thins with the length, your article came just at a time when I was thinking of returning to shorter style, so perfect timing. I may see about extensions to get a bit more length and my hair is fine as well, I hope they are available at a reasonable cost I hear people spend $ on them so wil check. Great selection of videos with so many out thre you have done the work of previewin. Thanks!!!!!!!!!
