I have had Botox injections and I was pleased with the results. The Dr. I used had the right idea that, Less is Better. I am a man, and she stressed two things: Men have thicker skin, and You dont want to risk looking obviously injected with Botox. She started on the low side and over the course of a two year period, got the formula just right. On one side of my face, the muscles were stronger. I was given injections and each time I was told to revisit within a week if I felt one side needed tweeking. This was necessary more than once because of a habit I have of furrowing my brow. The effects lasted longer with each treatment AND I was prescribed a cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturing routine. Plus I started yoga for stress. The injection sights were massaged with a numbing agent before the needle was even brought into the room each time. All I felt was the pressure form the injection. No pain and never any bruising. i do have large pores where I percieve the injection sights to be, this could be my imagination, not noticeable to anyone but me. It has been about a year since my last treatment and I have moved to another state. I am trying a new Dr. tomorrow. I hope the results are the same or better! I am glad I had the treatments done.

I would consider Botox under one condition. They are saying a benefit is for pain. I avoid shots in general, but pain does have me reconsider. I do agree certain foods and not smoking help. And, I am taking note that I need to keep using my products longer to see results.

sounds like botox is still better, cause it has long-lasting effects, and is probably cheaper than buying all of these... also, the products that give "instant results" are as good as plain primers that just even skin out while you're wearing them.... they don't really solve any problems.

I wish I could afford botox but will definitely try a product or two on this list. Why not? Though, I'm finding that my issue is not dry skin. I actually have oily skin and some of the products will not counteract this.

I used to get botox back in my 20s when I was still single. One time I got droopy eye from it right before summer which destroyed my dating life for a short time. If you are old enough to remember Sloth from the movie Goonies, that's what I started to resemble with my droopy eye. It was a humbling experience to say the least.

I can't believe iS Clinical isn't on this list?? iS Clinical is a little expensive but the results are so worth it! Recently I've also started using their latest brand, iS's Age Treatment Complex which is a little but cheaper but just as effective. If you're looking to save money try getting it online at Skinterra where if you spend a certain amount of money you will also get a Free Essentials Kit. I'm a huge fan!

I've used Olay for years and love it! I'm told that I look quite a bit younger than 51. Of course, part of it is genetics. My mother does not look 78 at all! She also has used Olay for years.

What real product is less expensive, certainly less painful, and works oh-so-much-better than Botox? Retinol, the prescription quality, not OTC. I started using Retin-A .05% for adult acne in my early 40's and I am now in my early 60's. I now have very few age wrinkles and no age spots or discolorations (and I loved the sun and outdoors). If you add a great moisturizer, the vitamins A and C, peptides to Retin-A (or Renova, and I now use .01%) every day or other day, the results, over time, are remarkable. Without surgery. Most will see results in 2-3 weeks, and the collagen rebuilt is not just surface .. talk with a dermatologist or cosmotologist. I buy the generic brand which costs me just $4 for a 45 gram tube. My skin is smooth, soft, has very small pores, only lightly creased, firm, and very natural looking. Much more than a $300 a month cream can do.

I have to say, I find the declaration that these topical products can have an effect similar to Botox injections a little absurd. I'm a makeup artist, skincare enthusiast and beauty blogger that does A LOT of research on this topic, and I've yet to see one single dermatologist say anything to the effect that topical ingredients can rival the effects of Botox. In fact, one thing is skirted here- almost all of the products mentioned contain GABA, which is purported to have a temporary "freezing" effect on the skin. These claims have basically no scientific backing for a topical product. Though mentioned briefly in a couple product descriptions, even if GABA worked as the companies claim it does (which, again, there's no proof of) it could only work temporarily- meaning while it's on the skin. As soon as you wash your face, those benefits go right down the drain along with your money! Another ingredient, Hyaluronic acid, is mentioned in quite a few products in this article, and is indeed a great ingredient- though again, the topical results are quite different than the results when the product is used internally. While the injectable form of HA is used to fill lines, it does not function the same way when applied to the skin. It is a moisture binding ingredient, which is great, but not the wrinkle reducing miracle it's made out to be. Oh, and you can also find Hyaluronic Acid in MUCH less expensive products- I'm fond of CeraVe's line of moisturizers, which includes HA for under $20!

Yes, these are quite "pricey"...however, I am 67 yrs. old and guessed to be in my early to mid 50's....how? Don't laugh and this is NOT a joke.....I have been using Jabot Cosmetics that were only a fantasy for years on the "soap opera" called The Young and The Restless! The first item is only used in the morning. The "Overnight Sensation" items are for PM use only, the last of which is used over the first two to seal in the moisture overnight. With daily use, you too will see dramatic results...I was skeptical but after using it for only about 2 months, I have seen dramatic reults in my wrinkles and even the "sagging" under my chin that extends to my neck...it has tightened considerably! Botox scares me, too. I think the best things are water, fruits & veggies, plenty of sleep, along with accepting your face as is and aging gracefully. Some of the stuff in this article may be good, but a bit pricey for my budget. There are other less expensive products with many of these ingredients in them. Among these: Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Anti-Wrinkle Serum w/Retinol - about $19 Avalon Organics Vitamin C line - $6-$25 (depending on where you're buying from) CeraVe Moisturizing Lotions (AM and PM) have Cermides, Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid (the AM lotion has SPF 30) - about $13-14 Worth a try...

Nothing works better than Botox for getting rid of deep wrinkles. I use Botox for Bruxism and Migraines but the other benefits are great! There are too many people who over do it though. It's an individual choice.
