14 Best Hot Styling Tools
Looking to make wavy hair straight or straight hair wavy? Pick up (not by the hot end, please) one of these flat irons, hot roller sets and more
No. 14: TIGI Bed Head 1875W Active Ionic Dryer, $69.95
TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 8.4*
Why: One reader cleverly says she's "blown away." And goes on to explain why: "I absolutely LOVE this blow dryer. I use it on my hair when I'm wanting to wear it down and straight, but I've just taken a shower. The comb attachment is the best part of this product. I have wavy/kinky hair so the comb attachment saves me from having to straighten my hair after I blow dry it." "I am not sure why this dryer is so much better, but it takes my wavy and fuzzy hair into a straight and sleek and sexy style," she adds. Another reader says, "this is the best blow dryer. I have no complaints. I cannot believe how good my hair looks after using it."

Ionic hair dryers are definitely a must. I also totally agree with letting your hair dry overnight, and then using the flat iron on the morning. One less heat attack!

The wet to straight will destroy your hair.

Beware the Remington Wet to Straight iron. It damages hair very badly, even if used infrequently and on the lowest heat setting. The plates are not coated, and they are heavy. They pull the hair down ... and out. Vapor irons that deposit nutrients while you straighten are the way to go. Ironing wet hair is a very bad idea in general, even if done sporadically with low heat. Even if it "straightens", the humidity is still present, creating a frizzy lackluster appearance.
