No. 3: Obagi Nu-Derm Healthy Skin Protection SPF 35, $37.60

TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 9.5*
Why: Readers say "this sunscreen is fantastic. I have actually used many Obagi skin care products and haven't been happy with all of them. This one, however, is just marvelous. It really makes my skin feel fresh and moisturized while not making it feel greasy from the SPF." Another says, "I have tried over a hundred sunscreens due to my fair skin, which the sun loves to fry whenever I'm outdoors. I have worn embarrassingly large beach hats and floor length sarongs, but now I believe I have discovered the best protection on the market. Even The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends this sunscreen!" One woman likes how the sunscreen "goes on well and disappears into the skin," and "works well as a moisturizer before applying your makeup." Another reader calls it her "holy grail sunscreen," saying it "really helps with the redness after I use the Obagi routine in the AM."

try Sierra Summits sunscreens--they are made for senstive skin and one is paraben free too!

I just recently learned that chemical sunscreens may actually be bad for you since they absorb UV rays rather than reflecting them away like a physical (zinc oxide) sunscreen would. Anyone else know anything about this??

Sunscreen is very important, especially in the summer time! But it can't be neglected in the winter time either. Thanks so much for this article!

Ahhhh..sunscreen...the unmake up makeup. Without it, you will find regret later in life. To the women who bake there skin to a crisp, it's a matter of time before you realize it was a mistake. You may look golden, you may look bronze..but those crows feet and skin cancer is just a matter of time. It's not worth it, spend your money on a really good spray tan, you will rep the benefits in the long run. My go to sunscreen is neutrogenia.

The Shiseido and Clarins are FABULOUS. I hate the smell of the Clinique.
