No 4: Neutrogena T/Gel Daily Control Dandruff Shampoo, $6.99

TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 9*
Why: Readers recommend this "to those who are tired having dandruff and not finding anything that helps!" They say it "controls the problem of flakes and oil" and also adds "wonderful volume" to hair. "My scalp could not get this clean with any other shampoo," claims one reader. "I had an itchy scalp and this took care of it AND build up that I did not know I had." Another reader says, "I make sure that I use it almost daily because it's effective only when used frequently. Once you stop using it, dandruff resurfaces." And, they agree, "the fact that it's economical makes it easier" to "use it daily and not feel the pinch."

I have partly dry scalp and it drives me nuts. Thanks for the information on all the products. I never really knew how many there were out there in the market. I'll have to try Jason tea tree oil shampoo...hopefully that will work!

My husband has terrible dry and itchy scalp. I've tried the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special and wasn't all that impressed. Will try the H&S Intensive Care and see where it takes us...

Pleasantly surprised by some of the choices. Never contemplated Herbal Essences. I have severe dandruff with frizzy hair and is so embarrassing at times. I have actually used actual tea tree extract and massaged into my scalp. It works wonders.

During the winter I tend to get some flaking. I really want to try the Aveda.

I have had a problem with dandruff. My hair is very sensetive. For this article i have to say that Garnier was just horriblefor me. It actually caused more build up. Tea tree oil works very well, its good for many uses and ill put it in with the shampoo while showering. Though,for my hair i use alternating shampoos so my hair doesnt get used to it,and cause build up. For people with curly/wavy hair use 1 of these 3 1)TGel from nutrogena(this has coal tar,which means it is the source in most dandruff shampoos and is the thing that gets rid of the dandruff/buildup. This i think is delouted so its not so harsh to the hair. 2) Walgreens Therapuetic +Plus Gel(this is definetley stronger and harsher on the hair,but with use it WILL go away 3)Suave Daily Claryfying(It takes constant use,its more for to make it less worse-it could be used everyday,its not a moisturizer striper. For the conditioner in the shower I use Organix moroccan argan conditioner) For regular shampoo you can use one of the 3-i use 1)Jennifer Lopez Loreal sunflower anti frizz eversleek shampoo(its a little pricey,but overall- great results)2)Sunsilk(U can buy this online-its quite hard to find in stores but it works reeaaaallly goood! [:) 3)Suave professionals curl/wave definer. Also after the shower i use 2 oils, they are Optimim oil(it has coconut,olive,avocodo,and jojoba oil in it-u can use just this 1 by itself and ur fine,and Argan oil for shine and health. I hope this information was useful. You can find most of these products at Walmart. [;
