I love going through my stash and making room for new goodies. I'm keeping my full coverage foundation. There's no need to throw it out when you can just mix it with some moisturizer to make a tinted moisturizer..

I agree with everything except about the hair extension and the foundation. I never cake my foundation on to the point that it looks fake- most people don't know I wear make up anyway...and there's no way I'm giving up my extensions. Just not gonna happen.

Makes sense to me on tossing stuff out pass the experation date. My ex wife still has makeup she bought in for years. I have tried to tell her to toss it but she says they are fine. Even buying her new stuff she still wont part with them any idea's? As for me, I am a huge full coverage fan. Been playing with some tinted moisterizers but now that I am hitting my late 30s just don't think it works for me. My daughter loves them though lol.

Regarding getting rid of "full coverage foundations", I have tried sooo many tinted moisturizers and just didn't like any of them. I am 53, BTW. However, I just have to recommend Jouer LUMINIZING MOISTURE TINT. I got a sample, and it sat around for weeks. I tried it one day, and I don't know if it was the "illuminating" factor or what, but I shelled out a quick $38 for a big tube of it. I see on their website that they also have a matte finish too, although I haven't tried it. Hope this helps someone!

Hurrah! I am OCD about preventing product contamination. Yes, I have shed tears when tossing capless items, but I knew it was for my own good. Any makeup with a change in consistency or scent should go. And I change mascaras regularly to prevent a growth in germs. Full-cover foundations? They may still have their place, depending on one's particular skin concerns.

I can absolutely agree on most of these things besides extensions and nail stickers, I don't think short hair is attractive on a lot of people and i love hair extensions (Although i have hair down to the very low of my back and don't use them), Hair extensions can be attractive. And nail stickers are fun, Although i agree with the drying out part i wouldn't say retire them or throw them out!

Natural and glowing look for makeup is very popular as of late, so I concur with the suggestion to throw away full coverage foundations. Not only do they look fake, it also clogs your pores preventing your skin's ability to "breathe."

Nice tips, although I can't imagine who would abuse their valuable makeup so bad, like the lipstick example. Any drugstore tweezers work for me; tbh, if you buy a $2 pair of tweezers and make it last for 4 months, then maybe buy another $2 one, would all in all cost alot less than their "highly recommended" $22 tweezers.

I love the idea of cleaning your stash at the beginning of the year. One that was not obvious to me was the nail stickers. I didn't realize that they dried out but it makes sense. I will have to use those nail stickers I have been saving!

I'm not so sure that those models aren't using a full coverage foundation, albeit a much more natural looking one. As for the tweezers, I definitely have a couple pairs I need to part with.

I have seen this advice about tinted moisturizer for 'skin like Models have' for the past 40 years. Now, we ALL know that models are 'made up' for magazine covers and such by professionals and whatever 'flaws' are still present are airbrushed away before a photo goes on to a magazine cover.

if the cap to something (or the item) gets broken, I decant it into a clean 7-day style pillbox. If it is just cracked or the lid otherwise stays on- just broken at the hinge - then I keep it.

As soon as you lose a lipstick top, scoop it out and place it in a small sealable container (you can find them at Ulta/sephora) and label it. That way you don't lose your favorite lipstick!

If you don't have skin problems you can go for certain foundations etc. I agree with the mascara, because if you are a daily user and had an eye infection, then throw it out. Old nail polish can be thinned and used for other things.
