Beat-the-Heat Summer Hairstyles
Summer-proof your hairstyles when humidity strikes with these expert tricks
Step 1: Apply texturizing mousse to damp hair and allow it to air dry.
Step 2: Wrap sections of hair around a 1-inch curling iron to create texture throughout your hair. Finger comb through your waves to muss them up.
Step 3: Divide your hair into four sections by making a center part from crown to nape, and a part from ear to ear around the back of your head. Clip the bottom two temporarily.
Step 4: Create reverse French (also known as Dutch) braids on each of the two top sections. The braids should meet at the center of the back of your head. Once they meet, pin them so that they overlap and braid the ends. Pin the ends under at the back of your head.
Step 5: Braid the back sections regularly and pin the ends under.
Step 6: Pull at the braids with your fingers to loosen a few strands.
Step 7: Finish with a spritz of a strong-hold hairspray. Try L'Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray, $14.99.
