Zosia Mamet couldn't be more different than her character Shoshanna on
"Girls." Mamet's style is laid back, and her beauty routine is
minimalistic. "I literally wear no makeup, " she says. "I have coconut butter chapstick -- it's the Palmers one you buy at CVS. And if I didn't have that, I would probably sob in the middle of the street because chapped lips are the worst"
The actress recently teamed up with
Secret Deodorant for a Facebook
Live chat about stress and the pressure put on women. "I think nowadays, we put these expectations on ourselves as women to be everything -- to be superheroes in every regard," she says. "And I think these expectations are barely reasonable or doable."
When Mamet plays Shoshanna, she gets to experience a different kind of
stress. "Thinking of her on a deeper level as a character, she's always so afraid of what other people are going to think of her -- their perception and their opinion --and that's what caused the stress," she says. But she also gets to
have fun and experiment with beauty looks she'd never try otherwise. "She does so many things that I would never even dream of doing as a human being in my real life, which is part of why I love my job. I get to wear these crazy, ridiculous hairstyles and outfits," she says.
Her favorite hairstyle on "Girls"? "Definitely the donut, which I referred to as the bagel," she says. And of course the
tiny hat -- because nothing abates stress like a tiny hat. And some
Secret Deodorant.
