How a Tattoo Artist Is Changing Women's Lives One Nipple at a Time

Using custom-blended inks and a super-steady hand, one very special man makes a big difference in 2,000 women's lives each year

"I want to feel comfortable naked, like, I want to look normal again," says a woman (referred to only as "Woman") in a recent New York Times article about Maryland-based tattoo artist Vinnie Myers.

Why would the NYT pen a piece on a small town tattoo guy? Because he's restoring cancer survivors' dignity, one nipple at a time.

"Woman" explains, "Plastic surgeons are limited in really what they can create. It's not their fault, it's just that they're not tattoo artists, so they generally have a range of twelve pigments, especially for women who have had unilateral mastectomy, where only one side has been taken off. It is so hard to color match, so there is a lot of bad nipples out there."

That's the thing about Vinnie, he's a real artist, one who takes his craft seriously -- seriously enough that nearly 2,000 women each year put themselves in his chair and into his capable hands.

I'll shut up and let the very moving video fill you in on the rest of the details but I'll just add that my hat, if I were wearing one, would be off to this guy -- he's making a big difference in so many women's lives and for that, he deserves a whole lotta love and admiration.
