Study: We Will Spend the Majority of Our Lives Wearing Makeup
New research reveals that the average woman will spend more time with makeup on than without
In a detailed study of women's beauty rituals and regimens, health and wellness brand Beurer surveyed 2,000 participants and found that, on average, women wear apply their makeup at 8 am and remove it at 8:47pm. (One fourth of the respondents leave theirs on until 10:30pm.) That's nearly 13 hours "behind the mask" every day.

"It can no doubt boost your confidence and make you feel better about yourself, so it's not surprising that many women insist on keeping it on all day," Beurer's Sales Marketing Director, Robert Slade, says.
The study turned up some worrisome statistics as well; one in five said they wouldn't answer the door without their faces on, 38 percent admitted to going to bed with it on (big mistake, look at this) and 10 percent say that their confidence level is directly proportionate to the amount of makeup they're wearing -- despite the fact that more than a quarter of the women polled said that their partners preferred them to be naked-faced.
Other points worth noting: A typical woman spends $198 on cosmetics each year, has 13 items in her cosmetics and foundation, concealer, eyeshadow and mascara rank as most popular.
